The six way power seat base may have a defective (cold) weld on the pivot pin which is welded to the swivel plate. The weld could fail.

• Recall 46596 [USA]: Fuel restriction could result in loss of power and/or engine stall, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
  Certain airtex fuel pump modules, p/nos. E7089m, e7094m, e7113m, and e7129m, manufactured between june 1 and september 24, 2006. These fuel pump modules were sold as aftermarket for use in certain daimlerchrysler vehicles listed above. Silicone material used in manufacture of the flapper valve was out-of-specification, leading to excess swell of the flapper valve restricting the flow of fuel to the fuel pump module.

• Recall 41129 [USA]: This condition will manifest itself through illumination of the air bag warning lamp, and could eventually result in a driver's air bag open circuit, if the part is not replaced in a reasonable amount of time.
  On certain minivans, the driver's air bag may become disabled due to a failure of the clockspring, which is located in the hub of the steering wheel.
  dealers will replace the clockspring assembly on all covered vehicles with 70,000 miles or less. For those vehicles with more than 70,000 miles, daimlerchrysler will offer an extended lifetime warranty under which it will replace the clockspring at no charge if it fails. Daimlerchrysler will also reimburse owners who have paid to have the clockspring replaced on their vehicles. The recall began on october 12, 2004. • Recall 62786 [USA]: A possible fire can occur in the presence of an ignition source.
  Certain aftermarket replacement fuel filters, models wix filter part numbers 33576, 33577, 33734; napa filter part numbers 3576, 3577, 3734; and carquest filter part numbers 86576, 86577, 86734 used on 1996-2000 daimlerchrysler town & country, dodge caravan, and plymouth voyager vehicles, can cause the fuel lines to leak.

  Certain pickup truck, van, and mini van conversions equipped with southern comfort built running boards that contain certain courtesy lights manufactured by american technology components, inc. These units contain a courtesy light or lights that might overheat when the wire harness is exposed to excessive moisture and road salt.

• Recall 5419 [USA]: Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire.
  Vehicle description: mini vans built with 3.3l and 3.8l engines have fuel rails with nitrole rubber o-ring seals that can degrade over time. Fuel leakage from the underhood fuel injection fuel rail could result, increasing the likelihood of a vehicle fire.
  dealers will install a seal on the vehicle fuel rails to prevent external leakage of fuel from the fuel rail crossover tube, should the existing o-rings continue to degrade. Owner notification began on january 25, 2002. Due to the large quantity of vehicles involved in this campaign, the owner notification will be phased over the next several months. However, if a vehicle is leaking fuel from the o-rings, the vehicle should be taken into a dealer to have this repaired as soon as possible. • Recall 2004366 [Canada]: Airbag
  On certain vehicles, increased clockspring terminal resistance or a back-winding condition of the clockspring may cause the airbag warning lamp to illuminate. Until the problem is remedied, the drivers airbag will not deploy as required in a frontal crash, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: dealers will replace the clockspring assembly on vehicles with less than 115 000 kms. Owners of vehicles with over 115 000 kms will be offered extended lifetime warranty on the clockspring.

  On certain vehicles equipped with the 3.3l or 3.8l engine the nitrile "o-ring" seals used in the fuel rail may degrade over time and extended exposure to elevated temperatures. This could result in fuel leakage, and, in the presence of an ignition source, an underhood fire could occur. Correction: external seals will be installed at both of the fuel rail crossover tube joints. If the crossover tube joints are leaking or red rust exists in the area, the fuel rail assembly must be replaced.

• Driver air bag clockspring failure investigation # EA04013

  The driver air bag clockspring can develop an open-circuit condition resulting in nonfunctional driver-side frontal air bag, horn, cruise control (if equipped), and/or steering wheel radio control (if equipped).In its october 5, 2004 letter to nhtsa, daimlerchrysler stated that it will conduct a safety recall and replace the clockspring assembly on all my 1998.5-2000 daimlerchrysler minivans, built between march 1998 and august 2000, with 70,000 miles or less.It will also provide a lifetime warranty for this component on my 1998.5-2000 minivans, regardless of mileage.The details of the corrective action are described in daimlerchryslers letter (see recall no. 04v-480).The agency believes that further expenditure of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists with respect to those vehicles covered only by the lifetime warranty.The agency will take further action if warranted by the circumstances.See page 2 for additional information.

I was driving at 75 mph on an interstate highway. The 3.3 liter v6 engine, with 120,800 miles on it, threw a rod and cracked a 3 to 4" diameter hole in the block. I have cared for this car religiously for 14 years. It had full oil level. It is available for the next couple of weeks for examination if desired. I was able to get off the highway onto the shoulder safely.

Tl* the contact owns a 2000 dodge grand caravan. While driving 35 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. In addition, the battery and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The contact was able to park the vehicle in a nearby parking lot. When the ignition was started, the temperature gauge increased. The contact turned off the ignition and allowed the vehicle to cool down for awhile. Afterwards, the vehicle was restarted and the contact continued driving 15 mph to his residence. The contact noticed that the steering wheel belt was loose. The contact called lithia chrysler jeep of reno (located at 1050 e plumb ln #100, reno, nv 89502, (775) 501-8593) and informed them of the failure. The contact scheduled an appointment with an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 147,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2000 dodge grand caravan. While driving approximately 50 mph with a full tank of fuel, the fuel gauge displayed as empty. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and depressed the reset button since the vehicle had just been fueled. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally, but the failure recurred approximately eight other times in a four month period. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the radiator needed replacement. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2000 dodge grand caravan. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and the revolutions per minute decreased. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 180,000.

Fuel gage don't work after fuel pump replacement,,,,gasoline spilled all over road

Strut towers on my 2000 dodge grand caravan have rusted through. Visible, significant rust has been present for at least 7 years, however, it is now not driveable. I did not realize this is such a broadscale, significant problem to most owners of 1996-2000 vans. Please recall this mess! Strut towers are not cosmetic!

The serpentine belt on 96-2000 chrysler minivans slipping off is a known issue and has been for years. Time and time again chrysler has refused to issue a recall for it. It is due to a manufacturing defect in one of the engine mounts causing a pulley misalignment. The belt slipping off causes loss of power steering, water pump, and alternator. The power steering loss can cause a driver to not be able to correct in time and cause an accident. The loss of the water pump can cause overheating resulting in engine damage. The loss of the alternator can cause the car to eventually stop running when the battery is drained, causing motorists to be stranded. I live in alaska and i'm not always in cellular signal when driving and temperatures in the winter get down to -30 f at times. I can't wait sometimes several hours for a tow truck to get to me without risking hypothermia at those temperatures. This needs to be made into a recall so it can get fixed.
