• Recall 4616 [USA]: Should the tread separate at highway speeds, a vehicle crash could occur, possibly resulting in personal injury or death.
  This is not a safety recall in accordance with the safety act. However, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. Equipment description: ford is replacing all firestone wilderness at 15, 16, and 17 inch tires mounted on ford trucks and suvs. Ford reports tread separation can occur due to a combination of the sensitivity of the tire design to stress, aging, and manufacturing differences between plants. Ford is replacing these tires to prevent possible premature tire failure. Vehicle description: the vehicles listed below may have been originally equipped with firestone wilderness at tires or may have had wilderness at tires installed during the firestone recall launched in august 2000. Certain 1991 throught 2002 ford explorer certain 2001 throught 2002 explorer sport, and sport trac certain 1997 through 2002 mercury mountaineer certain 1991 through 2001 ranger certain 1999 through 2001 expedition certain 1991 through 1994, and 1997 model year f-series certain 1991 through 1994 bronco note: both original equipment and replacement tires are affected.

• Recall 31508 [USA]: This condition could cause overheating, smoke, and possibly fire in the steering column area of the vehicle.
  The ignition switch could experience an internal short circuit.
  dealers will replace the ignition switch.

• Recall 19034 [USA]: The lodged keys can cause loss of steering control, whichcan result in an accident when the vehicle is being used on the highway.
  Keys attached to the key ring of an ignition key while it is in the vehicle ignition can become lodged in the steering lock receiver as the steering wheel is being turned.
  a shield will be positioned between the steering wheel and the ignition switch and held in place by the steering lock band.

• Recall 1995212 [Canada]: Electrical
  A short circuit could develop in the ignition switch that could lead to overheating, smoke, and possibly fire in the steering column of the vehicle. This condition may occur while the vehicle is in use or unattended. Correction: ignition switch will be replaced with a revised design switch.

• Recall 1992077 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
  Note: also includes some medium and heavy trucks. These vehicles may not comply with c.M.V.S.S. 108 - lighting. Daytime running light module may malfunction which can result in daytime running lights that dim, flicker or go off or in some instances may remain on after the ignition is turned off. Correction: daytime running light module will be replaced on affected vehicles.

When driving at an undetermined speed consumer noticed that steering column smoked. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. *ak

Vehicle goes into full throttle without warning. The only way to stop the acceleration is to shut the vehicle off. *ak

The cast iron exhaust manifold cracked, and the manufacture was not willing to assist. *jb

This is the third time i inhaled burnt wire and couldn't get it to stop, than lose light in the dark,and i did once have ford service to see to the problem and they only found battery clamp wasn't tight but no wieing burning, and i have discovery a two year later it losed the light and the plug of the light switch melted , after i repalce it, i still smell the burning wireing. I am getting nervous of if it does catch on fire after hearing of recalled .*ak

When attempting to start vehicle by placing the key in vehicle ignition key will not fit in ignition, causing a no start situation. Please provide any further details.*ak

The firestone tires atx p235/75r15 were defective and the consumer had them replaced with michelin tires. The consumer is asking for reimbursment and the manufacturer has no interest in honoring his claim. *yh

Fuel tank developed leaks between bottom of tank and skid pan. The design and placement of the skid pan contibuted to an accumulation of dirt and other debris that craeted an envioronment that hastened the formation of rust, which eventually led to the formation of holes in the tank. If not detected, leaking gasoline may have been exposed to hot exhaust system components, creating a risk of fire. *ak

Steel plate that holds the fuel tank, completely rusted away causing the fuel tank to fall off, the problem was reported to the dealership,. The fuel tank will be replaced at owners expense. *ak *jb

While driving smoke came from under the dashboard and before driver could get out of vehicle, vehicle burst into flames. Vehicle has been totalled. *ak

Wife driving, went to pass, throttle got stuck in open position, could not get gas pedal to back up, vehicle increased in speed, brakes failed to stop vehicle, finally turned off ignition, vehicle kept running for awhile, vehicle was hot. *ak

While driving smoke was coming from under carraige of vehicle then the car caught on fire.The reason is still unknown. *ak

Front seals on power train failed, causing fluid to spray onto engine, resulting in vehicle catching on fire. Please define in detail power train. *ak

Driving to store, noticed smoke, pulled over, fire coming from dashboard on driver's side, windshield shattered. *ak

While driving the vehicle there was a surge in the engine and vehicle accelerated from 60 to about 90mph. Key had to be taken from ignition in order to stop vehicle. Dealer has not seen vehicle. *ak

Consumer keeps vehicle under car port at all times, they are first owners of vehicle and the last two-three years vehicle paint's been peeling, dealership says they are not responsible.

While driving vehicle at 20 mph the fuel tank fell off, causing gas to spill and possible fire hazard.

The transmission was hard to put into gear and the transmission is slipping when driving the dealer has been contacted. Nlm

Vehicle fuel tank has a hole due to desgn defect debris enters in between the holding plate and tank and causes holes/leakage.Mfr is aware of defect. *ak
