Ford E-250 1993

• Recall 67415 [USA]: A vehicle fire could occur with or without the engine running.
  Ford is recalling model years 1995-2003 windstar, 2000-2003 excursion diesel, 1993-1997 and 1999-2003 f-250 sd through f-550 sd diesel, 1992-2003 e-150 through e-550, 1995-2002 explorer, 1997 and 2002 mercury mountaineer, 1995-1997 and 2001-2003 ranger, and 1994 f53 vehicles equipped with the texas instruments speed control deactivation switch (scds). The scds may leak internally and then overheat, smoke, or burn.
  ford will notify owners that dealers will install a fused wiring harness in line with the scds. On 1999-2003 windstar vehicles with a leaking scds, dealers will also inspect the abs control module connector and repair as necessary. Repairs will be completed free of charge. • Recall 75774 [USA]: As a result, the fuse is located in the output circuit rather than in the intended input power feed circuit, and may not offer the intended protection in the event of an electrical short to ground.
  Ford is recalling 225,000 my 1992-2003 econoline, my 1993-1995 taurus sho, my 1992-1998 crown victoria, my 1993 bronco, f-series, my 1995-1997 f-series super duty stripped chassis, my 1992-1998 mercury grand marquis, and my 1992-1995 lincoln town car vehicles. The affected vehicles were previously repaired using a wiring harness that is not compatible with the vehicle circuit polarity.
  dealers will install a new wiring harness, or replace the mating electrical component. The recall began on february 18, 2008. Owners may contact ford at 1-800-392-3673.

• Recall 90356 [USA]: This could result in an underhood fire.
  On certain pickup trucks, passenger vehicles, sport utility vehicles, and motor homes chassis, the speed control deactivation switch may, under certain conditions, leak internally and then overheat, smoke, or burn.
  dealers will install a fused wiring harness. Owners of the passenger cars included in this campaign will be instructed to return their vehicles to their dealers to have the speed control deactivation switch disconnected as an interim repair. As soon as repair parts are available (expected october 2007), owners will be instructed to return to the dealers for installation of a fused wiring harness. The recall began on august 13, 2007, and mailing completed by september 19, 2007. Owners may contact ford at 1-888-222-2751.

• Recall 2009292 [Canada]: Other
  On certain vehicles, the speed control deactivation switch may overheat, smoke, or burn, potentially resulting in an underhood fire. The condition may occur either when the vehicle is parked or when it is in operation. Correction: dealers will install a new switch or fused wiring harness. Note: this is an expansion of recall 2005028 (05s28) for vehicles not previously included in the campaign.

• Recall 2008038 [Canada]: Electrical
  On certain vehicles, a wiring harness that is not compatible with the vehicle circuit polarity may have been inadvertently installed during servicing for recall 2005028 or 2007258. As a result, the fuse is located in the output circuit rather than in the input power feed circuit, and will not offer the intended protection in the event of an electrical short to ground. This could result in a vehicle fire, causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will install an updated wiring harness.

• Recall 2007258 [Canada]: Electrical
  On certain vehicles, the speed control deactivation switch may overheat, smoke, or burn, potentially resulting in an underhood fire. The failure mode appears to be different than that of recall 2005028 (05s28). This time, the concern is with long term durability performance issues causing the switch to fail. Correction: initially as an interim repair, owners will be instructed to return their vehicles to their dealers to have the speed control deactivation switch disconnected. As soon as replacement parts are available, owners will be instructed to return to the dealers for installation of a fused wiring harness designed to eliminate the potential risk of fire.

The vehicle was being driven on the highway, and it caught fire. The police and the fire department were present at the scene, but at the time the incident took place, it was a complete loss. *tr

Clutch rod goes through the firewall which is under the dashboard, and the clutch is working intermittently. *ak

When driving the vehicle and tried stopping the vehicle at any given speed; and thinking of stepping on the brake,when actually stepped on the gas pedal. The to pedals are too close together. *ak

Rear anti-lock brakes do not lock up but make the front brakes lock up which results in loss of control. *ak

The exhaust manifolds on my van failed about a year ago. I had them replaced with genuine ford parts. They continiue to glow orange everytime i drive the vehicle. I have had several mechanics look into the problem with no luck whatsoever. Finally i called my local ford dealer here in santa cruz, ca. North bay ford intially agreed that the exhaust manifolds should not be getting that hot (glowing orange) so they ran a bunch of diagnostic test(s). All the on board sytems checked out and showed no problems so they called ford headquarters in dearborn mich. And the ford techs said that this is a normal condition. I decided to call three other ford dealerships in the monterey and san jose area and spoke with the service persons. When i described the problem i was having all the dealerships responded by asking me to make an appointment to have the problem fixed. For the exaust manifolds to glow orange i'm guessing the are reaching tempeture of near 1800 degrees.This can't be normal but if it is i feel that it must be a defective design. Leaking fuel tank due to abrasive wear at top of tank where attached to car body.Strong gas fumes filled the van,noticeable for several months, becoming much worse. Mechanic found three holes intop of tank.No buffers or padding were found between the tank and body of van.Metal around holes brightly worn.Shifting of gas in tank from leakage had loosened holding straps.Great danger of fire.Illness of chief driver with chest and lung pain from fumes.

Vehicle was left running in driveway in park position, and the gears shifted to reverse and accelerated down the driveway into a neighbor's house. Dealer can't find the problem. *ak
