• Recall 71888 [USA]: A leaking fuel pump could create a vehicle fire hazard.
  Certain federal-mogul aftermarket fuel pumps sold under the brand names of carter, accuflow, napa, truflow, parts depo, and parts master, shipped between august 2006 and july 2007 for use on the vehicles listed above. The fuel pump diaphragm in certain production runs may have been improperly installed or inadequately tested which may cause the fuel pump to leak.
  federal-mogul will notify owners and replace the defective fuel pumps free of charge. The recall began on october 15, 2007. Owners can contact federal-mogul at 248-354-7700.

  When frontally impacted into a fixed barrier at 30 mph, as specified in federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) no. 301, the left frame rails of such vehicles may displace inboard, pinching the fuel/water separator canister between the frame rail and engine sufficiently to displace the fuel/water separator drain rod, allowing the contents of the canister to drain. Consequence of defect: fuel leak during or after a crash increases the possibility of a fire.
  install a canister shield, a revised design drain rod shield, and modify fuel/water separator mounting bracket.

• Recall 1987105 [Canada]: Structure
  1983-87 e-250 and 350 with 7.5 litre and 1985-87 heavy duty e-250 and 350 with 5.8 litre 4v engine and a gvw over 8,500 lbs. These vehicles have been determined to generate excessive underbody temperatures and fuel system pressures in severe duty applications, particularly if fueled with overly volatile gasoline. This can create an abnormal potential for expulsion of liquid fuel from the filler pipe upon removal of the fuel tank filler cap. In the presence of an ignition source, a vehicle fire could occur. Correction: vehicles will be modified to minimize the possibility of fuel expulsion and shield underbody components from excessive underbody heat. This would cause a short cirucit in the electrical supply to the fuel pump which would result in normal engine starting but fuel would not continue to be provided to the engine. Vehicles with this condition would stall without prior warning after a short period of operation.

  Summary of information from manufacturer:ford has supplied information requested concerning vehicle populationand the number of complaints.Analysis:the problem appears to be one of excessive heat collecting under thevehicles, usually while stationary with the engine idling.This heatcauses the fuel to vaporize in the fuel tank and develop pressures inexcess of what the vent system can handle.Status:ir to ford sent on 2/20/87. Meeting with ford and final stage manufactur-ers held on march 11 & 12, 1987. Additional meeting held on march 7, 1987.Also on april i, 1987.Ford announced service campaign, no safety recall.Recall request letter sent on 4/7/87. Ford did not agree to a safetyrecall, consequently a panel meeting was held on 4/29/87 and investigativecase c87-003 was opened.This ea was closed as a result of the case open-ing on 4/27/87.===
