• Recall 67418 [USA]: A vehicle fire could occur with or without the engine running.
  Ford is recalling model years 1995-2003 windstar, 2000-2003 excursion diesel, 1993-1997 and 1999-2003 f-250 sd through f-550 sd diesel, 1992-2003 e-150 through e-550, 1995-2002 explorer, 1997 and 2002 mercury mountaineer, 1995-1997 and 2001-2003 ranger, and 1994 f53 vehicles equipped with the texas instruments speed control deactivation switch (scds). The scds may leak internally and then overheat, smoke, or burn.
  ford will notify owners that dealers will install a fused wiring harness in line with the scds. On 1999-2003 windstar vehicles with a leaking scds, dealers will also inspect the abs control module connector and repair as necessary. Repairs will be completed free of charge.   On certain pickup trucks, passenger vehicles, sport utility vehicles, and motor homes chassis, the speed control deactivation switch may, under certain conditions, leak internally and then overheat, smoke, or burn.
  dealers will install a fused wiring harness. Owners of the passenger cars included in this campaign will be instructed to return their vehicles to their dealers to have the speed control deactivation switch disconnected as an interim repair. As soon as repair parts are available (expected october 2007), owners will be instructed to return to the dealers for installation of a fused wiring harness. • Recall 5438 [USA]: Should this occur, the capacity of the receiving tank may be exceeded and fuel may overflow from the filler cap.
  This is not a safety recall in accordance with the safety act. However, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. Vehicle description: 1990-1993 ford f-series vehicles equipped with dual fuel tanks and 4.9, 5.0,5.8, or 7.5 liter gasoline fueled engines. Some vehicles can experience a cross tank fuel flow condition due to a damaged check valve in the fuel pump/sender assembly. Fuel may be supplied from one tank and some or all of the unused fuel may be returned to the other tank.
  ford is extending the warranty for potential fuel cross-flow to 12 years of service or 150,000 miles from the vehicle's warranty start date, whichever occurs first. This cover will automatically transfer to subsequent owners at no charge. If a vehicle already has more than 150,000 miles, this overage will last until december 31, 2001. If the vehicle is experiencing a fuel cross-flow condition, dealers will repair the condition free of charge.

• Recall 4601 [USA]: Should the tread separate at highway speeds, a vehicle crash could occur, possibly resulting in personal injury or death.
  This is not a safety recall in accordance with the safety act. However, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. Equipment description: ford is replacing all firestone wilderness at 15, 16, and 17 inch tires mounted on ford trucks and suvs. Ford reports tread separation can occur due to a combination of the sensitivity of the tire design to stress, aging, and manufacturing differences between plants. Ford is replacing these tires to prevent possible premature tire failure. Vehicle description: the vehicles listed below may have been originally equipped with firestone wilderness at tires or may have had wilderness at tires installed during the firestone recall launched in august 2000. • Recall 7188 [USA]: Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source could result in a vehicle fire.
  Vehicle description: light duty trucks and cab chassis equipped with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks. The carbon steel fuel pressure regulator in the fuel system can wear out during the life of the vehicle. If the fuel pressure regulator malfunctions, it can cause high fuel system pressure, which damages the fuel pump check valve. This allows fuel to be transferred from one tank to the other, possibly overfilling the non-operating tank, resulting in fuel overflow past the filler cap.

• Recall 18676 [USA]: When the above occurs, it can result in parking brake system ineffectiveness. the parking brake will not hold the vehicle, causing the vehicle to roll freely, if the transmission is not left in gear.
  The parking brake control self-adjust pawl does not line up properly with the self-adjust rachet causing the pawl to slip over one or more teeth in the rachet.

• Recall 19072 [USA]: If one of the u-clip nuts fractures, the bumper will loosen and rattle causing fracture of the remaining u-clip nuts, resulting in separation of the bumper from the vehicle. if the bumper were to detach from the vehicle while it is being driven, a vehicle collision could result.

  On certain vehicles, the speed control deactivation switch may overheat, smoke, or burn, potentially resulting in an underhood fire. The failure mode appears to be different than that of recall 2005028 (05s28). This time, the concern is with long term durability performance issues causing the switch to fail. Correction: initially as an interim repair, owners will be instructed to return their vehicles to their dealers to have the speed control deactivation switch disconnected. As soon as replacement parts are available, owners will be instructed to return to the dealers for installation of a fused wiring harness designed to eliminate the potential risk of fire.

  On july 14, 1993 ford filed a defect information report concerning fuel tank cross flow leakage on f-series light trucks and cab chassis built from july 22, 1989 through december 17, 1992.The remedy was to replace the fuel pressure regulator and install a check valve between each fuel supply line and fuel tank (2) to repair the supply side fuel cross flow problem (recall 93v-125).Odi opened rq98-008 on may 29, 1998 because of the large number of alleged remedy failures and reports of fuel cross flow on vehicles outside of the recall population.Based onthe information received from ford on august 11, september 30, and december 15, 1998, and the increasing trend of remedy failures and out of scope crossflow reports, odi opened ea99-032 on november 4, 1999.The attached engineering analysis closing report fully describes the results of this investigation and reason for closing.The subject vehicles can experience fuel transfer from one tank to the other due to malfunctions in the fuel system.When fuel is pumped or returned to the non-operating tank (cross flow), the capacity of the non-operating tank can be exceeded, causing fuel to overflow past the filler cap, creating a fire potential.

Started vehicle normally and as soon as the brake was applied, a loud 'pop' sound was heard behind the dash and a large amount of smoke came into the cab from the a/c vents. I continued for about one minute. The vehicle was shut off and parked in place. The smoke subsided. This is consistent with the problems indicated in the speed control deactivation switch recall affecting 1993 ford f-250 vehicles causing under hood fires. However, after contacting ford, they indicated that my particular vin was not included in the recall, and i would be responsible for the cost of towing and any repairs.

Tl* the contact owns a 1993 ford f-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, he noticed that the speedometer and cruise control failed to operate. In addition, the abs warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The warning light remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 8v051000 (vehicle speed control:cruise control) however the vin was not included. The contact experienced the similar defect as mentioned in the recall. The vehicle was repaired at the contact's expense. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. Tl* the contact owns a 1993 ford f-250. While the contact was fueling the vehicle, the fuel cap shrank and fuel spewed from the fuel tank. The failure occurred whenever he attempted to fuel the front tank first. As the fuel traveled to the rear tank, it spewed out. The contact stated that the failure was a fire hazard. The contact drove the vehicle to future ford of roseville (650 automall dr, roseville, ca 95661, (888) 656-7577), but the mechanics refused to service the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 250,000.

This is about a fuel tank delivery and air induction bulletin, cross tank fuel flow problem my ford f250 truck is having. I have notified my local dealership and ford customer service, they both say there is no recall for this vehicle. But i found a nhtsa campaign # 93v12500 describing exactly what has been happening for the last 6 months. It needs to be fixed and is expensive, but i can't get any satisfaction from ford, i'm hoping you can help. *tr updated 04/15/10.*jb

Tl*the contact owns a 1993 ford f250. The contact received a safety recall notice in august of 2007 for the vehicle speed control. The cruise control was disconnected at that time. He called them again in march of 2008 and was informed that the part was still unavailable. He was recently informed that the part would be available in june of 2008. Dt: consumer received nhtsa campaign recall 93v125000 concerning fuel system check valve. When the consumer contacted ford they told him that because the twelve year warranty expired he would not be reimbursed. The consumer took the vehicle to a repair shop about a week ago and they told him to call a ford dealership, who then advised him to call the manufacturer.*ak

Nhtsa recall campaign 01i008000 concerning fuel cross flow. After having recall repairs performed the problem recurred. Vehicle was taken back to the dealer for inspection, but mechanic could not duplicate the problem. *ak
