• Recall 67425 [USA]: A vehicle fire could occur with or without the engine running.
  Ford is recalling model years 1995-2003 windstar, 2000-2003 excursion diesel, 1993-1997 and 1999-2003 f-250 sd through f-550 sd diesel, 1992-2003 e-150 through e-550, 1995-2002 explorer, 1997 and 2002 mercury mountaineer, 1995-1997 and 2001-2003 ranger, and 1994 f53 vehicles equipped with the texas instruments speed control deactivation switch (scds). The scds may leak internally and then overheat, smoke, or burn.
  ford will notify owners that dealers will install a fused wiring harness in line with the scds. On 1999-2003 windstar vehicles with a leaking scds, dealers will also inspect the abs control module connector and repair as necessary. Repairs will be completed free of charge. • Recall 75707 [USA]: As a result, the fuse is located in the output circuit rather than in the intended input power feed circuit, and may not offer the intended protection in the event of an electrical short to ground.
  Ford is recalling 225,000 my 1992-2003 econoline, my 1993-1995 taurus sho, my 1992-1998 crown victoria, my 1993 bronco, f-series, my 1995-1997 f-series super duty stripped chassis, my 1992-1998 mercury grand marquis, and my 1992-1995 lincoln town car vehicles.   On certain pickup trucks, passenger vehicles, sport utility vehicles, and motor homes chassis, the speed control deactivation switch may, under certain conditions, leak internally and then overheat, smoke, or burn.
  dealers will install a fused wiring harness. Owners of the passenger cars included in this campaign will be instructed to return their vehicles to their dealers to have the speed control deactivation switch disconnected as an interim repair. As soon as repair parts are available (expected october 2007), owners will be instructed to return to the dealers for installation of a fused wiring harness. • Recall 51022 [USA]: Without the amber reflectors, the vehicle will be poorly illuminated, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash without warning.
  Certain ck motorsports combination headlights, clear corner, bumper, and side marker lights sold as replacement lamps for use on the passenger vehicles listed above. Some combination lamps that are not equipped with amber side reflectors fail to conform to federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.

• Recall 5442 [USA]: Should this occur, the capacity of the receiving tank may be exceeded and fuel may overflow from the filler cap.
  This is not a safety recall in accordance with the safety act. However, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. Vehicle description: 1990-1993 ford f-series vehicles equipped with dual fuel tanks and 4.9, 5.0,5.8, or 7.5 liter gasoline fueled engines. Some vehicles can experience a cross tank fuel flow condition due to a damaged check valve in the fuel pump/sender assembly. Fuel may be supplied from one tank and some or all of the unused fuel may be returned to the other tank.
  ford is extending the warranty for potential fuel cross-flow to 12 years of service or 150,000 miles from the vehicle's warranty start date, whichever occurs first. This cover will automatically transfer to subsequent owners at no charge. If a vehicle already has more than 150,000 miles, this overage will last until december 31, 2001. If the vehicle is experiencing a fuel cross-flow condition, dealers will repair the condition free of charge.

• Recall 4604 [USA]: Should the tread separate at highway speeds, a vehicle crash could occur, possibly resulting in personal injury or death.
  This is not a safety recall in accordance with the safety act. However, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. Equipment description: ford is replacing all firestone wilderness at 15, 16, and 17 inch tires mounted on ford trucks and suvs. Ford reports tread separation can occur due to a combination of the sensitivity of the tire design to stress, aging, and manufacturing differences between plants. Ford is replacing these tires to prevent possible premature tire failure. Vehicle description: the vehicles listed below may have been originally equipped with firestone wilderness at tires or may have had wilderness at tires installed during the firestone recall launched in august 2000. • Recall 7189 [USA]: Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source could result in a vehicle fire.
  Vehicle description: light duty trucks and cab chassis equipped with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks. The carbon steel fuel pressure regulator in the fuel system can wear out during the life of the vehicle. If the fuel pressure regulator malfunctions, it can cause high fuel system pressure, which damages the fuel pump check valve. This allows fuel to be transferred from one tank to the other, possibly overfilling the non-operating tank, resulting in fuel overflow past the filler cap.

• Recall 18678 [USA]: When the above occurs, it can result in parking brake system ineffectiveness. the parking brake will not hold the vehicle, causing the vehicle to roll freely, if the transmission is not left in gear.
  The parking brake control self-adjust pawl does not line up properly with the self-adjust rachet causing the pawl to slip over one or more teeth in the rachet.
  a wedge will be installed which will serve to lock the parking brake self-adjust mechanism pawl into engagement with the rachet. Also, owners will be advised to release and reapply the parking brake whenever tooth skip occurs and will be reminded to always turn off the engine and leave the vehicle in gear when the vehicle is parked.

• Recall 19073 [USA]: If one of the u-clip nuts fractures, the bumper will loosen and rattle causing fracture of the remaining u-clip nuts, resulting in separation of the bumper from the vehicle. if the bumper were to detach from the vehicle while it is being driven, a vehicle collision could result.

  On certain vehicles, the speed control deactivation switch may overheat, smoke, or burn, potentially resulting in an underhood fire. The failure mode appears to be different than that of recall 2005028 (05s28). This time, the concern is with long term durability performance issues causing the switch to fail. Correction: initially as an interim repair, owners will be instructed to return their vehicles to their dealers to have the speed control deactivation switch disconnected. As soon as replacement parts are available, owners will be instructed to return to the dealers for installation of a fused wiring harness designed to eliminate the potential risk of fire.

  On july 14, 1993 ford filed a defect information report concerning fuel tank cross flow leakage on f-series light trucks and cab chassis built from july 22, 1989 through december 17, 1992.The remedy was to replace the fuel pressure regulator and install a check valve between each fuel supply line and fuel tank (2) to repair the supply side fuel cross flow problem (recall 93v-125).Odi opened rq98-008 on may 29, 1998 because of the large number of alleged remedy failures and reports of fuel cross flow on vehicles outside of the recall population.Based onthe information received from ford on august 11, september 30, and december 15, 1998, and the increasing trend of remedy failures and out of scope crossflow reports, odi opened ea99-032 on november 4, 1999.The attached engineering analysis closing report fully describes the results of this investigation and reason for closing.The subject vehicles can experience fuel transfer from one tank to the other due to malfunctions in the fuel system.When fuel is pumped or returned to the non-operating tank (cross flow), the capacity of the non-operating tank can be exceeded, causing fuel to overflow past the filler cap, creating a fire potential.

Had both of my steer tires blow out going down the high way right side i had a trailer on and the other i had just got on to the interstate. Put a hole in my floor on driverside and broke the brake line on the driverside as well. Passenger side just let loose with no warning. I still have all four tires and the tread. These were 235/85r16

1993 ford f-350 with a 5.8 engine, i received this info. From alldata. I read on ford's web site that a safety recall generally never expires... Recall #'s 00s57 fuel pressure regulator replacement, # 00v424000 fuel pressure regulator malfunction, # 01l008000 fuel pump check valve defect., all three of these have the same symptoms, causes fuel from the rear tank to transfer to the front tank and cause fuel to run out of the fuel filler neck of the front tank and down the side of the truck onto the ground. I have owned the truck for 6 years and have never received any type of notice for this, one notice states that vehicle owners would be notified starting may 2001, ford sent me an email today stating that they would not repair this, i even sent them the recall #'s, i hope that you can offer me some help on this, as i really do not want my truck to catch fire with or without my family in it. I was using my rear gas tank in my dual tank system. The fuel ,in addition to operating the vehicle, pumped into the half full front tank. When i went to fill the front tank at the filling station, the fuel forcibly spilled out of the front tank, spraying on me. *nm

Clutch slave cylinder too close to exhaust and over heats o-ring causing loss of brake fluid and loss of clutch. Less than 50,000 miles on truck and is used for towing 5th wheel rv some times in mountains it has went out two times now once about two years ago and just today, 08/17/2005. Heat insulator was in place both times. *jb

While driving the serpentine belt snapped off. This caused the vehicle to lose power and extended stopping distance. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve problem. The cause was not determined. Please provide more information. *nm

The clutch got stuck in drive. Consumer had to apply the brakes in order to stop the vehicle. Consumer was not able to remove the gear, and the vehicle is in the shop for t repairs. *ak

Exhaust fumes were leaking into the cab of the vehicle. Consumer contacted the dealer, who didn't think that this problem was important, and will not service vehicle in a timely manor. Also, consumer asked for manufacturer's telephone number, but the dealer refused to cooperate. *ak

My ford f350 crewcab caught on fire for no apparent reason. I am just now finding out that there is a recall on my vehicle because of spontaneous fires on my year and model. I spent almost $3000.00 on repairs and have been having ongoing problems with the engine quitting while driving. I would like to know if there is any remedy that i can obtain from ford. I have not been able to use this truck for over 2 years because of the engine quitting and then a no start situation. Vehicle will start after it cools down but will stop within a half hour.This is frustrating because this is my only vehicle and i have lost use of the truck and had to stop working because i am a construction contractor and needed it to work. I have had the truck to the dealer numerous times. After researching problems online i had only found out then about possible underhood fires on my vehicle. I also found out about other tsb and recall information of which i had not been notified. *tr

When the vehicle idled consumer smelled and heard exhaust leaking. Dealer examined the vehicle, and found that the exhaust gas recirculation tube (egr) had a hole in it. *ak
