• Recall 2123 [USA]: Improper engagement of the parking brake could result in the vehicle rolling away without prior warning possibly resulting in personal injury or death.
  On certain trucks equipped with meritor brand 12" x 4" dcm drum parking brake, the bolts used to attach the parking brake assembly to the flange yoke are too large and can interfere with the proper engagement of the braking system and possibly disengage.
  dealers will replace the attaching bolts with the correct size bolts free of charge. Owner notification is expected to begin during october 2002. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact freightliner at 1-800-547-0712.

  Vehicle description: heavy duty trucks. The brake pedal push rod that activates the service brakes could fracture.

• Recall 11138 [USA]: If the fan blade breaks while a person was working in the engine, personal injury could occur.
  Vehicle description: truck-tractors equipped with 26" 8-blade metal engine cooling fans. The fan blades can fatigue crack and eventually separate from the fan.
  dealers will replace these fans with fans which are more durable.

• Recall 2003017 [Canada]: Brakes
  On certain vehicles, the 12" x 4" dcm drum parking brake assemblies were fastened to the brake flange yoke with 1.25" attaching bolts. These bolts may interfere with the actuator strut in the parking brake assembly. Such interference could prevent the brake from being properly engage and disengaged. Correction: dealers will replace bolts.

  On certain vehicles, the brake pedal push rod that activates the service brakes may fracture. This could result in a vehicle crash without prior warning. Correction: brake pedal push rod will be replaced with one of a larger diameter.

• Recall 1998041 [Canada]: Engine
  Note: vehicles equipped with cummins b and c series engines. The fan blades may experience stress levels higher than anticipated which can cause fatigue cracks and eventually separation of the fan blade. This can result in injury to persons in the vicinity of the fan at the time of failure. Correction: fans will be removed and replaced with a new design fan which is more durable.
