Recall 27274 [USA]: System: steering/clamp bolt.vehicle description: heavy duty trucks.
A clamp pinch bolt securing the upper steering shaft to the lower steering shaft may loosen. Consequence of defect: shafts could separate resulting in loss of truck control which could lead to a crash without prior warning.
replace the clamp assembly and upper steering shaft.

On certain trucks, the coleman front driving axle steering arms may be overstressed. This condition can cause cracks to develop eventually resulting in complete fracture of the steering arm and loss of steering control. On certain vehicles, improper torque of the clamp pinch bolt securing the upper steering shaft to the lower steering shaft may allow the clamp to loosen and the shafts to separate. This would result in loss of vehicle control and possible crash without prior warning. Certain vehicles may experience failure of the cab entry step mounting strap in the area of the step support bracket to strap weld interface. If the cab entry mounting strap fails while a person is attempting to enter the cab, personal injury could result.
