Tl*- the contact received a safety recall on his 1999 gms cierra pickup truck. The contact replaced the wheel bearing hub and speed sensor because he was told they were a unit and that was the failure in his vehicle. He later found that the wheel bearing hub that he has paid for was the problem, and would like to be reimbursed.

I was traveling on my job. I was in atlanta ga. And it was raining. Traffic slowed down and i lightly applied my brakes and they locked down causing the yukon to slide. I almost hit the vehicle in front of me. This has happened 5 times and it was raining everytime. The recall said it was only for up north. I travel north all the time on my job. But i live in alabama. So i think the recall should cover my 99 gmc yukon also.*jb

Contact states having trouble with abs brakes. He believes the brakes are front wheel anti-lock. When he tries to brake while traveling at a slow speed, 5 mph, the pedal pulsed and kept vehicle from stopping. This happened 60%-70% of the time. While trying to brake can hear the abs brakes go off. This happens in any road condition. Consumer bought the car second hand. The car had about 36, 000 miles. * had over 1000 failures. *ak

The drivers side seat latch under the seat is made of plastic, it will break in half and fall off. When the brakes are applied you will be slung into the steering wheel and then slide backwards and slung into the windshield again, even at 5 mph.*ak

The reason i am reporting this failure is the fact that i know of two other individuals with the same problem within the same mileage in a gm truck. When ordering the abs motor my mechanic was told that these motors are sent out as soon as they hit the shelf. It seems to me that there is a problem with this part. Thank you very much and i hope this is the right forum for my complaint. Not just being a safety hazard it is something that i feel i will be changing again in 30000 miles as they haven't changed the building of the motor.*ak

I noticed that the abs pump under the drivers seat was running all the time. I'm confident that the abs was not working. My wife didn't notice the sound because it wasn't really loud. I unplugged the abs under the truck and drove it to a repair shop. I was told this is a common problem. When the garage picked up the part at the gmc dealership, they were told this is a common problem and they couldn't keep enough control modules in stock. This is a dealer part #88935872 "abs control module with a cost of $682.50. Total cost of the repair was $839.77. (the dealer would have charged more). My first concern is that many drivers would not have noticed the problem and secondly i can't imagine that an abs control system would fail in just over 2 years and at only 44,000 miles. Because this is obviously such a common problem i feel that general motors should be required to upgrade the system and/or offer an extended warranty on the abs. The dealer said many people just disconnect the abs rather than pay the high cost of repair.
