  Certain heavy duty trucks and school bus chassis equipped with tie rod assemblies containing 24-dl model ball sockets and manufactured by trw. Certain of the tie rod ball-socket bearings have a below-specification case depth and/or hardness, which can lead to premature wear of the socket. If this condition occurs, the driver can lose partial control of the right front wheel, possibly resulting in a crash. Correction: dealers will replace the defective ball sockets and/or drag links.

  On certainve vehicles, transmission fluid may leak from a heat degraded transmission fluid cooler hose onto the exhaust system on the passenger's side. If this were to occur, a fire could result. Correction: dealers will install a new transmission fluid cooler inlet hose and outlet hose designed with a heat sleeve and ensure adequate clearance to the exhaust system take down pipe. The right hand exhaust manifold seal will be inspected for leakage and replaced if necessary.

  On certainve vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions, he transmission shift cable may have an timproperly crimped end rod(s). A below specification crimp load on an end rod could, over time, allow the shift cable to be pulled out of the end rod. This would result in the driver losing the ability to change gears and the transmission would remain in the last gear selected prior to the detachment and the gear selector may not indicate the proper gear. With a detached transmission shift cable, the vehicle may move in a direction not anticipated by the driver, and a crash could occur without prior warning. Correction: a new shift cable will be installed on affected vehicles.
