In 2004 and early 2005 models the judder spring has been installed backwards from the factory. Honda is aware of this problem however has not issued a recall. This caused my clutch to fail at 425 miles in my 2005 honda rebel. When this failure happened i was in a construction zone and nearly lost my life. *jb

In reference to odi#10135765. I just bought a new 2005 honda gl1800a motorcycle. From the 1st mile the front end had a severe wobble. If you took you hand off the handlebars even for a second it became violent and could cause a crash. My dealer had to install different fork stem bearing (tapered vs ball bearing). This partially corrected the problem. Honda themselves would not pay for the fit because they said all the gl1800a's do it and it's normal. *jb

I purchased a new 2005 honda vtx1300r motorcycle and the speedometer and probably the odometer are off (over) by 10%. Honda will not make good on any repair so that the speed/mileage reading is accurate. They say the 10% is within their tolerances for accuracy. I would like this ti be rectified.

I have a new honda motorcycle (cbr 1000rr) and the speedometer reads about ten mile per hour fast. The local honda dealer said it could not be fixed that all of the motorcycles are like that. Got any suggestions. Will honda in japan help? *nm

Consumer complained about transmission problem. When accelerating at times, it seems like the transmission comes out of gear. This causes the engine to make a loud noise while accelerating without making any further movement.*ak

I am experiencing a very serious problem with the engine / fuel injection (?) system on my new 2005 honda goldwing 1800. I have noticed a serious problem in the way the engine runs. There is a decrease in rpm?S when the engine attempts to maintain approximately 1500 rpm?S. After the engine slows to approximately 1000 rpm?S, the engine speeds up to 1500, back to 1000, and continues in this cycle while holding the throttle static. When i am at a stop and then attempt to make a slow, tight turn by using the engine speed at just above idle and feather the clutch through the turn, i lose engine power. I then have to accelerate out of the turn while giving more clutch. This is an evasive maneuver to avoid losing control of the motorcycle and falling to the ground. This condition prohibits employing proper turning techniques and results in increased turning radiuses. This condition can be repeated and observed by idling a warmed engine and then slowly opening the throttle to 1500 rpm?S and holding the throttle static. The engine then begins to vary its speed in a pulsating way (1500 to 1000 to 1500, etc.). During this time, one can hear what sounds to be an air valve opening and closing in concert with the rpm?S going down. This cycle runs approximately every two seconds. On two occasions, i have taken the motorcycle into a local authorized honda dealership and related the problem to the service personnel. While they are more than willing to find out what the problem is and to correct it, they have not received any direction from honda or the honda model technician in torrance, california. I have spoken to an authorized honda service technician (a personal friend) and he is at a loss for a solution. I have been in email contact with the former tech-editor for wing world and he says that there is no fix for this condition at this time and that is a situation with the gl1800 that is common in all gl1800?S, some more intense that others.

Front steering wobbles on my 2005 honda goldwing gl1800 with abs. The wobble has been present from the day i picked up the brand new bike from the dealer. The wobble is happening between 35 and 45 mph. The wobble can be felt but is not sever when holding onto the handle bars. If you relax your grip on the handle bars the handle bars will begin to oscillate back and forth and can become sever if left to do so. I brought this up to the dealer and was told that all honda goldwing??S will have a wobble and that the manufacture will tell you to keep both hands on the handle bars at all times to prevent the wobble. I have had other motorcycles that did not wobble at all and feel that this is a design problem in the honda goldwing. This is in support of odi#10135765. *nm
