  Navistar, inc. (navistar) is recalling certain 2016 and 2018-2024 ic bus ce school buses. The brake pressure switch assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch's electrical components and cause an electrical short-circuit.

The anti-lock brake system (abs) indicator light does not remain illuminated when a malfunction exists, and when the vehicle's ignition switch is on, and the vehicle is in motion. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 121, "air brake systems."

Additionally, a bus that is disabled could create the need for a transfer of passengers in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury.   Issue: on certain school buses, the nut that attaches the steering wheel to the steering shaft may not have been properly tightened. If the nut loosens, the steering wheel could detach and cause a loss of steering control. Safety risk: a loss of steering control can create the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: ic bus advises you to park your school bus immediately until you can schedule an appointment with any ic bus dealer to have your vehicle repaired. The dealer will remove and reinstall the steering wheel, apply thread-locking compound and tighten the nut correctly.
