NHTSA Mandated Recalls
Recall 2012328 [Canada]: Engine
On certain buses equipped with an i-6 engine, the high pressure engine oil line (between the cylinder head and the high pressure pump) may fail. This would cause an engine oil leak, which could result in sudden engine shut down. Lost vehicle propulsion, in conjunction with traffic and road condition, and the driver’s reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. In addition, oil may contact a hot engine or exhaust component, which could result in a fire. Correction: dealers will replace the high pressure engine oil line.
Recall 2012015 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain buses, if the rear brake line is not oriented properly during brake maintenance, and the bus kneeling feature is activated, the brake line "p" clip may become pinched. As a result the rear brakes may not fully release. Operating the vehicle with the rear brakes partly engaged may generate enough heat to cause a fire, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will install a clip designed to prevent improper routing of the rear brake line.
Recall 2010078 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain vehicles, the parking brake may release if the brake system's electronic control unit misinterprets signals generated from turning the ignition key more than once at a specific rate. The release of the parking brake may cause a sudden, unexpected shift in vehicle position, resulting in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will reprogram brake system electronic control unit.
Recall 2009092 [Canada]: Other
On certain vehicles, fasteners that secure the engine fan magnet bracket could fail allowing the bracket to separate from the vehicle. An errant magnet bracket could strike a vehicle, property, or a bystander, which could result in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will replace the engine fan drive air chamber and magnet bracket.
Recall 2008196 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles, the potting material that encapsulates the circuit board of the remote power module may not sufficiently seal the circuit board from water and contamination intrusion. If the encapsulation is compromised, water and contaminants may cause an internal electrical short. An electrical short could cause a fire which can result in property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: dealers will install a fused electrical cable in the ground circuit of each suspect vehicle that has one or more remote power module(s).
Recall 2008422 [Canada]: Other
On certain vehicles, the front axle bearings were not sufficiently lubricated during assembly, which may result in bearing seizing or possible wheel separation. A seized bearing, as well as front wheel separation, could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. A separated wheel could also roll-away, posing a risk to motorists and bystanders. Correction: dealers will inspect, lubricate and, if necessary, replace the front axle bearings.
