• Recall 2001124 [Canada]: Brakes
  On certain vehicles, the automatic slack adjuster anchor brackets can fail due to fatigue fracture and completely separate, causing the slack adjusters to function as manual slack adjusters. If the support bracket for an automatic slack adjuster fails, the brakes at that wheel end will not automatically adjust. As the brake linings wear, the vehicle will have reduced braking capacity, increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: dealers will install a new bracket on each suspect slack adjuster.

• Recall 2000050 [Canada]: Brakes
  On certain vehicles, the antilock traction relay valves manufactured by bendix were incorrectly assembled. An extra check valve was installed which will not allow the traction control system to function properly. When the system detects a traction control event, the defective valve can cause the rear brakes to apply and not release until the air system pressure is depleted. An unexpected and uncontrollable application of the rear brakes could cause a crash without prior warning. Correction: suspect vehicles will be inspected and all antilock traction relay valves found to be defective will be replaced.

• Recall 1999052 [Canada]: Suspension
  On certain vehicles, the radius on the cone of the inner wheel bearing was incorrectly machined resulting in improper seating of the cone against the seal flange of the steering knuckle. Improper seating of the bearing can increase the stress level on the steer axle knuckle spindle as well as bearing movement and excessive bearing end play. This can result in premature bearing wear, eventual fatigue failure of the axle spindle and loss of steering control. Correction: inner wheel bearings will be inspected for proper seating and bearings that do not seat properly will be changed. The axle spindle and bearing cup will also be inspected for any damage and will be changed as required.

• Recall 1999053 [Canada]: Brakes
  On certain vehicles, the automatic slack adjusters may have had insufficient torque applied to the guide pawl cap screw. This condition may cause the brakes to gradually lose adjustment. This could result in loss of brake effectiveness and increased stopping distances which could in turn result in a vehicle crash. Correction:: the torque will be checked on the automatic slack adjuster guide pawl.. If there is no torque, the brakes will be adjusted and the guide pawl will be tightened to 15-20 ft. Lbs.

  On certain vehicles, a defect in the front wheel hub bearings will result in premature spalling which will lead to eventual breakdown of the bearing. An early breakdown of the wheel hub bearing system, when undetected, can possibly cause a wheel fire, wheel separation, loss of vehicle control, or vehicle fire. Correction: dealer will inspect the front axle hubs, and replace if necessary. This is an expansion of recall 03-134.
