• Recall 2003052 [Canada]: Electrical
  On certain vehicles, the cable from the starter to the battery stud on the alternator may break off at the alternator end, due to vibration in the cable, if the wire harness is not routed and clipped correctly. If the terminal breaks off, the cab will lose all power, resulting in complete electrical failure and engine shutdown, which may result in an accident and potentially cause property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: dealer will reroute and rewire the wiring harness to the alternator.

• Recall 2003174 [Canada]: Steering
  On certain vehicles, the drag link will interfere with the left front brake chamber and slack adjuster. This interference may cause damage to the slack adjuster and render it inoperable. An inoperable slack adjuster will cause the front brakes to wear unevenly and may eventually cause a vehicle crash without warning, which could result in property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: dealer will replace the pitman arm, drag link and steering arm.

• Recall 2002242 [Canada]: Brakes
  On certain vehicles, the bolts and locking nuts that secure the brake spiders or brake anchor plates to the axles on the right side may have been under-torqued. The nuts cannot back off because they are locking nuts. If the clamp load on the bolts is not sufficient, the anchor plate may move when the brake is applied in either forward or reverse direction. This movement may cause individual brake components to fail or eventually fatigue all the anchor plate mounting bolts. If all bolts break due to fatigue, the worst-case would be complete loss of braking at a wheel end which could result in an extended stopping distance and could cause a collision, possibly resulting in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealer will inspect and tighten all suspect bolts.

  On certain trucks, the positive battery cables, that supply power from the batteries to the starter, may rub against an electrical ground cable between the engine and the starter, and electrical ground cable between the frame rail and the starter, or the frame rail itself. This rubbing may cause an electrical short and/or fire, which can result in property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: dealers will re-route the battery cables using new bracketry.

The led circuit boards in these switches may begin to heat up and possibly produce a flame or fire, without warning, that could cause property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: dealer will install a water shield over the back of the entire bunk control panel.

  On certain vehicles, the engine electrical harness can chafe against sharp edges on the engine. There are a number of different failures that could occur as many functions of the vehicle are processed through this harness. The modes of failure that could occur without warning, that may affect highway safety are: sudden acceleration, activation of engine compression brake, alternator overload and possible fire, engine speed dropping to idle, and loss of engine electronic control module (ecm) power resulting in engine shutdown. Correction: dealers will inspect, repair and relocate the engine harness.
