NHTSA Mandated Recalls
Recall 2014484 [Canada]: Heater and defroster
On certain vehicles equipped with a no-idle heating, ventilation and air conditioning (hvac) module, the electrical harness supplying power to the module may not be of sufficient size, which could cause a voltage drop in the harness and an increase in resistance and heating at the connector. This could cause a fire, potentially resulting in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will install a revised harness.
Recall 2013314 [Canada]: Accessories
On certain trucks equipped with the electronic fifth wheel jaw release system, incorrect air line routing could allow the fifth wheel jaw to release without driver input. This could result in a trailer separating from the truck, resulting in a possible hazard to other road users and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will inspect air line routing and correct if necessary.
Recall 2010020 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain vehicles, the air line that supplies the traction solenoid valve of the roll stability control (rsc) system may have been connected to an incorrect port of the air tank. This condition will affect air modulation to the trailer brakes if the rsc is activated during a roll stability event. Less than optimal rsc control of the trailer brakes during a roll stability event may increase the risk of a crash which could result in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, relocate the air line that supplies the rsc traction solenoid valve to the correct port on the air tank.
Recall 2010096 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles equipped with an optional jump start stud, corrosion at the base of the stud may cause an electrical short between the stud and battery box resulting in a vehicle fire causing property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: dealers will install a new redesigned jump start stud.
Recall 2010286 [Canada]: Visual system
On certain trucks, the passenger side windshield wiper linkage rod may separate from either the wiper motor drive arm or the passenger side pivot assembly. If the linkage separates, the passenger side wiper arm will no longer operate which could lead to reduced driver visibility. Decreased driver visibility may increase the risk of a crash possibly resulting in property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: dealers will install a redesigned windshield wiper linkage assembly.
Recall 2008024 [Canada]: Other
On certain trucks, the hood travel limiting shock bracket may fail. Should the shock separate while the hood is being opened, it would allow the hood to keep tilting forward, possibly injuring its operator or a bystander. Correction: dealers will replace the hood travel limiting shock connection pin and retention system with an updated version.
Recall 2008071 [Canada]: Brakes
Certain vehicle may have been assembled with an incorrectly manufactured bendix mv-3 dash control valve. If the double check valve becomes lodged, in the event of a primary reservoir failure, air pressure can leak past the lodged valve, thereby depleting the secondary reservoir, causing a reduced ability for modulating the emergency brakes. Extended stopping distances may result in a vehicle crash, causing property damage, and/or personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the dash control valve.
Recall 2008196 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles, the potting material that encapsulates the circuit board of the remote power module may not sufficiently seal the circuit board from water and contamination intrusion. If the encapsulation is compromised, water and contaminants may cause an internal electrical short. An electrical short could cause a fire which can result in property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: dealers will install a fused electrical cable in the ground circuit of each suspect vehicle that has one or more remote power module(s).
Recall 2008421 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain trucks, the service brake air line between the tractor protection valve and the fast brake module may separate from the fast brake module. This would result in a loss of trailer service brakes, which could increase stopping distances, possibly causing a vehicle crash resulting in property damage, personal injuries or death. Correction: dealers will replace the fast break module and reroute air lines to eliminate line tension.
