  • Recall 2020063 [Canada]: Suspension
Issue: on certain fifth-wheel trailers, axles with the wrong load rating were installed. The trailer was built with axles rated for 2720 kg (6000 lb.), but it should have axles rated for 3200 kg (7000 lb.) as a result, the trailer could be overloaded. This could cause the leaf springs to fail and/or the axles to bend. Safety risk: an axle that bends or a spring that fails could cause a loss of control, and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: jayco will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to replace the axles and leaf springs with parts rated for 3200 kg (7000 lb.)

  • Recall 2017649 [Canada]: Accessories
On certain vehicles equipped with kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by kidde directly. Note: for more information about recalled fire extinguishers, please visit www.Kidde.Com.

  • Recall 2015200 [Canada]: Accessories
On certain fifth wheel and travel trailers, the hsm quad steps rivets that hold the steps together could loosen and fail. If the rivets were to fail, the steps could collapse which could cause a person to fall, resulting in injury. Correction: dealers will inspect and replace the rivets with stronger bolts.

  • Recall 2013142 [Canada]: Other
On certain fifth wheels, travel trailers and motorhomes, the electrical motor for the awning could become damaged, allowing the awning to unfurl unexpectedly. As a result, the awning could strike another vehicle, a stationary object, or a bystander, causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will replace the awning motor.

We have had three separate instances where the leaf spring hanger has completely sheared off. After having discussed this with other similar owners, it appears to be a common occurrence. It is going to cause a major accident with losing an axle while driving down the road at some point if lippert components does not address this design flaw immediately on preexisting units. I've noticed on newer models this issue has been resolved with a redesign of the leaf spring attachment. We were in motion going down i-95 and were fortunate enough to get safely off the road. *dt *dt consumer has made repairs. Took it to a local welding/machine shop was told there was a design flaw. Carfax cannot process request.*jb
