Recall 127488 [USA]: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
Jayco, inc. (jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with kidde plastic-handle or push button 'pindicator' fire extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.Nhtsa.Gov/odi/rcl/2017/rmisc-17v746-9524.Pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Jayco is recalling 1,673 my 2005-2008 seneca motor homes. An electrical short can occur if the battery cables were not tucked into the compartment in a manner that does not allow the cables to be pinched between the battery slide tray and the compartment door. dealers will relocate the battery cables to the rear battery and reposition a clamp to prevent pinching. The recall began on may 26, 2008. Jayco is recalling 1,265 my 2005-2008 seneca '35gs' and my 2007-2008 greyhawk '33ds' and '32ss' motor homes. The conduit clamp on the copper liquid propane (lp) tube feeding the slide-0ut is incorrectly placed which may allow the copper tube to bend and possibly leak with the movement of the slide-out. dealers will relocate the conduit clamp and add a rubber grommet to allow adhesion. Recall 37841 [USA]: This could result in separation of the towed vehicle from the motor home which could result in a crash, injury or death.
On certain motor homes, the distance from the rear cap to the hitch receiver encourages the use of longer ball mounts and/or extensions. The longer the ball mount and/or extensions used, the greater the forces that are applied to the fasteners that attach the hitch to the main chassis rails. These increased forces exceed the allowable forces permitted in the fasteners. When this happens, the fasteners may stretch, loosen, or break causing an unsafe towing condition or separation of the hitch from the motor home. dealers will replace all mounting hardware with hardware of a higher grade. Recall 61329 [USA]: This could result in inadvertent air bag deployment. a person may receive minor injuries, such as abrasions, from contact with the bag.
Certain motor homes built on chevrolet chassis were produced with a body wiring harness with no protective conduit in the area under the driver's feet to reduce the potential for harness wear. The body wiring harness includes sdm wiring that could be damaged from chafing and wear by the vehicle operators. general motors/chevrolet division is conducting the owner notification and remedy for this campaign. Chevrolet will inspect the wiring harness for potential damage, repair or replace the harness if required, and add conduit to all harnesses. Recall 2017649 [Canada]: Accessories
On certain vehicles equipped with kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by kidde directly. Recall 2008156 [Canada]: Fuel supply
On certain motorhomes, the copper lp tube feeding the slide-out room may have been incorrectly routed during vehicle assembly. This tube may bend and become damaged as a result of slide-out movement. A propane leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire or an explosion, which could cause property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will relocate the conduit clamp.
Recall 2008166 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain motorhomes, the battery cables may have been routed incorrectly within the battery compartment. As such, the cables may be pinched between the battery slide tray and the compartment door, which could create an electrical short. This could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will relocate the cables to the rear battery.
Recall 2007005 [Canada]: Other
On certain motorhomes, the fasteners attaching the hitch assembly to the chassis rails may fail. Hitch failure could allow the towed unit to separate from the towing vehicle. Correction: dealers will replace all mounting hardware with that of a higher grade.
