• Recall 127501 [USA]: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
  Jayco, inc. (jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with kidde plastic-handle or push button 'pindicator' fire extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.Nhtsa.Gov/odi/rcl/2017/rmisc-17v746-9524.Pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable.   jayco will notify owners, instructing them to contact kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on january 15, 2018. • Recall 76430 [USA]: If this condition is not addressed, it may result in a fire, injury or death.
  Jayco is recalling 1,673 my 2005-2008 seneca motor homes. An electrical short can occur if the battery cables were not tucked into the compartment in a manner that does not allow the cables to be pinched between the battery slide tray and the compartment door.
  dealers will relocate the battery cables to the rear battery and reposition a clamp to prevent pinching. The recall began on may 26, 2008. Owners may contact jayco at 1-574-825-5861.

• Recall 81020 [USA]: If the copper tube cracked, pressurized lp gas may escape into the compartment. this condition, if not addressed, may result in a fire, injury or death.
  Jayco is recalling 1,265 my 2005-2008 seneca '35gs' and my 2007-2008 greyhawk '33ds' and '32ss' motor homes. The conduit clamp on the copper liquid propane (lp) tube feeding the slide-0ut is incorrectly placed which may allow the copper tube to bend and possibly leak with the movement of the slide-out.

• Recall 37842 [USA]: This could result in separation of the towed vehicle from the motor home which could result in a crash, injury or death.
  On certain motor homes, the distance from the rear cap to the hitch receiver encourages the use of longer ball mounts and/or extensions. The longer the ball mount and/or extensions used, the greater the forces that are applied to the fasteners that attach the hitch to the main chassis rails. These increased forces exceed the allowable forces permitted in the fasteners. When this happens, the fasteners may stretch, loosen, or break causing an unsafe towing condition or separation of the hitch from the motor home.

  On certain vehicles equipped with kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by kidde directly.   On certain motorhomes, the copper lp tube feeding the slide-out room may have been incorrectly routed during vehicle assembly. This tube may bend and become damaged as a result of slide-out movement. A propane leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire or an explosion, which could cause property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will relocate the conduit clamp.

As such, the cables may be pinched between the battery slide tray and the compartment door, which could create an electrical short.   On certain motorhomes, the fasteners attaching the hitch assembly to the chassis rails may fail. Hitch failure could allow the towed unit to separate from the towing vehicle. Correction: dealers will replace all mounting hardware with that of a higher grade.

While traveling downhill, overdrive off, jake brake on, brake applied, when transmission downshifted, heard loud bang and saw black pieces bounce off the road and up past driver's window. Stopped vehicle and found holes in fan shroud, coolant draining on road, hole in fiberglass hood, and black plastic object lodge into wire bundle on right side. Vehicle towed to repair shop where fan was found to have shed plastic outer ring and top sections of blades. Plastic pieces were scattered throughout the engine compartment and embedded in radiator, multiple holes in fan shroud, half dollar size hole and hand size web of fractures in the hood fiberglass. Repairs to date include replacement of radiator, fan and fan shroud, a radiator hose, wires inspected and repaired, the hood is still in dispute. Gm has paid for parts but insists i pay the labor. I suspect the fan was defective and/or the jake brake system/transmission downshifted improperly causing the fan to overspeed and disintegrate. I read the previous posted incident from may 2009 and recognize this is a related event. Gm mechanics have told me this has happened previously but it is rare. While this maybe the case the potential for serious damage/death and/or property damage is high considering the penetration of metals, fiberglass and hoses if one of the projectiles released had hit a brake line. Repair shop kept parts. *tr

Engine shut down after shutdown warning alarm engaged. No running issues up to this point. Vehicle towed to chevy medium duty truck center. Nothing found wrong. *tr

Tl*- the contact owns a 2006 jayco seneca 34ss. The contact stated that the trailer hitch bolts were cracked. The dealer inspected the vehicle and replaced the bolts. The road conditions were clear. There was another occurrence when the contact heard a loud scraping noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact noticed that the driver's side bolt was missing, and another one was bent. The manufacturer provided a new trailer hitch to the contact as part of recall #07v005000. Approximately seven months later the contact noticed another bolt had cracked. The manufacturer advised the contact to go to the rv shop that installed the replacement hitch so that they could replace the bolts with heavy duty bolts. The vehicle currently has 35000 miles. *ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jayco seneca hd 35gs motor home. The contact stated that the main frame welds have been spliced, which caused the vehicle to dog-track. The slides are not closing correctly and diesel exhaust fumes are entering the vehicle. The failure has left black smut on the walls of the motor home. General motors stated that they will not touch any component of these defects. The contact stated that the vehicle is not under warranty. The engine size, # of cylinders, and powertrain were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 4,800.
