When subject to very cold temperatures, an internal seal in the master cylinder could lose flexibility and may cause brake fluid to leak.

The plastic electrical grommet connectors at the top of the fuel pump module are not compatible with automotive fuels and may degrade causing a potential leak path for fuel.

The front disc brake rotors can experience severe corrosion if operated for an extensive period in the "salt belt." if the rotors are not replaced, the corrosion can eventually compromise the structural integrity of the stamped steel center hub section of the rotor.

  On certain vehiclces, water and/or road salt in the proximity of the air bag control module may lead to corrosion. Such corrosion could result in illumination of the air bag warning light and it may also result in an inadvertent deployment of the air bags. Correction: the airbag electronic control module (aecm) will be replaced and located to the top of the transmission tunnel, just below the centre console glove box.

  On certain vehicles originally retailed in ontario, quebec and the maritime provinces, the composite front disc brake rotors may fail due to corrosion. The cast iron wear surface may separate from the hub reducing the braking effectiveness of the vehicle. Correction: front brake rotors will be replaced with rotors that utilize a stainless steel hub section.

• Crash related fuel tank fires investigation as of 20120612

  Odi has completed an extensive analysis of rear crash fuel tank system integrity data for the subject jeep cherokee, grand cherokee and liberty vehicles (svs).As of june 2013, odi knew of 56 post-collision fatal fires, 28 non-fatal fires, and 6 fuel leak incidents (totaling 90 incidents, 75 fatalities and 58 injuries) involving the svs.Based on this analysis, odi issued a recall request letter (rrl) on june 3, 2013 requesting that chrysler recall the grand cherokee and liberty vehicles due to the rate of fatal, non-fatal fire, and fuel leak incidents when compared to peer vehicles (compact and medium suvs) built during the same time period.In the rrl, odi described how the location of the aft-mounted fuel tank made the svs vulnerable to rear impact crash fuel tank failures.During the analysis, besides the high speed/high severity crashes present in both the sv and peer vehicles, odi observed a significant number of low and moderate speed rear impact crash related fires and leaks, particularly in the liberty.The data also demonstrated that svs originally equipped with towing hitch receivers (trailer hitches) appeared to be under-represented in rear-impact related fuel tank failures.In the rrl, odi requested that chrysler provide its response by june 18, 2013, otherwise nhtsa might proceed to an initial decision that the svs contain a safety-related defect.Chrysler responded to the rrl on june 4, 2013 and vigorously disputed the tentative findings of the rrl.Among other things, chrysler argued that the svs had an overall safety record superior to their peers, met or exceeded all applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards (fmvss) and only experienced fires in severe high energy rear impacts.Nonetheless, while continuing to maintain that the svs did not contain a safety-related defect, chrysler proposed a recall (13v-252) of approximately 2.5m (1.6m currently registered) model year (my) 1993 - 1998 grand cherokee (zj) and my 2002-2007 liberty (kj) vehicles on june 18, 2013.The recall remedy submitted by chrysler would employ a hitch receiver assembly consisting of a steel cross-member behind the fuel tank with forward-projecting arms bolted to the frame rails on either side of the fuel tank.For the my 1999 - 2004 grand cherokee, chrysler indicated it would conduct a customer satisfaction campaign and inspect vehicles equipped with aftermarket tow hitch receivers, and if necessary, replace any such hitch receivers whose conditionmay increase the risk of fuel system failure in rear crashes.Examination of the available data established that the my 1999 - 2004 grand cherokee did not pose the same magnitude of safety risk as the my 1993 - 1998 grand cherokee and my 2002-2007 liberty, particularly in low and moderate speed rear impacts.Because the agency has concluded that the vehicles do not present an unreasonable risk to safety, odi is closing its investigation of the my 1999 - 2004 grand cherokee.Although it was not within the scope of the petition initiating this investigation or the preliminary evaluation preceding this ea, odi also examined the performance of the my 1993 - 2001 cherokee as part of this investigation.Nhtsas assessment of the available data for the cherokee did not establish an unreasonable risk in comparison to peer vehicles.Odi does not approve proposed defect remedies.While offering to install hitch receiver assemblies on the my 1993-1998 grand cherokees and 2002-2007 liberty, chrysler did not, in odis view, provide enough evidence demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed remedy in rear impacts.The complete summary for this closing resume (ea12-005) can be seen by opening the following document:http://www-odi.Nhtsa.Dot.Gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/ucm466679/incla-ea12005-9765.Pdf

I found only general information that our 1999 jeep cherokee had two recalls. It is twenty years old and i would like to find out more about the recalls. We are most concerned to learn that there was an air bag recall sometime in the past. We have owned it since 2003 and never received a recall. The info said it was a nhtsa recall #00v105000. The other recall says it's an after-market fuel pump air tex electric fuel pumps for 1999 ' 2004. Please send us any information on this and what we can do about it, if anything. Thank you

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Robert green chrysler dodge jeep ram (178 bridgeville rd, monticello, ny 12701, (845) 397-7532) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy because of the year of the vehicle. Vehicle shuts off while driving intermittently in all types of driving and at different speeds

Tl* the contact owns a 1999 jeep cherokee. While the vehicle was stationary, the brake lines became severely rusted and corroded. The dealer (cueter chrysler jeep dodge ram in ypsilanti, michigan) was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 223,827.

My 1999 jeep cherokee uni-body frame is so rusted out underneath it is a hazard too drive, there is nothing else wrong with it. Specifically, but not limited to, control arms are rusted out and detached and frame is so rusted they can not be reattached. It seems it is very common for jeep grand cherokee uni-body under carriage to rust out and become a hazard with control arms detaching and vehicle becoming unsafe to drive. This is predominantly a problem in northern part of us. However, these are vehicle people buy to drive on bad roads so they should not deteriorate and become a danger to drive. Chrysler should be required to recall these jeeps and weld in new frame rails and other support and reattach detached suspension and other necessary equipment.

Seat belt latch and buckle does not function properly, it is very hard to buckle in and when trying to unbuckle, it takes a lot of force, time and very unsafe. If left unbuckled the dash light or alarm never comes on to buckle up. This happens at all times, doesn't matter if stationary or moving. The seat belt has malfunctioned and dealership is refusing to repair it unless an initial fee of $250 is paid with more repair fees are expected.

My car hit a bump on the highway and the front end wobbled so badly that i had to pull off the road and stop. "death wobble"

Tl* the contact's daughter owned a 1999 jeep cherokee. While the contact's daughter was driving approximately 40 mph, another vehicle crashed into the front of the contact's vehicle. The passenger side air bag deployed, but the driver's side air bag failed to deploy. As a result, the contact's daughter sustained injuries to the left eye, laceration of the nose, a broken jaw, the front teeth shifted, and black eyes. Medical attention was required. The driver of the other vehicle passed away as a result of the crash. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an impound and destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

I was at a stop sign, proceeded to accelerate, arriving at a stop-light when vehicle would not stop, brake pedal was pushed all the way to floor, pedal seemed to have no leverage to it. I coasted to a safe place to pull over, had to use emergency brake to stop. Checked all fluids and pads, those components seemed to be fine. And had to get vehicle towed it was unsafe to drive.

Hit a bump or pot hole or a man cover at 45 mph and the car starts to shake and goes out of control. Almost been hit over 5 times because i have to slow down to stop the issue. Tires a new and i've been to the shop they say everything good for safety inspections but it's not good. If i would have known that jeep is just try to kill it's car drivers i won't have buy the thing.

My 1999 jeep cherokee shakes violently at speeds over 50 mph when i hit a slight unevenness in the road. I've had my jeep inspected by a jeep dealer, paid to repair the problem, and it still remains. This is a well-documented, repeated issue, that i, and many others have experienced, driving jeeps. It's been reported on by both abc news (http://abc7news.Com/archive/8768540/) and fox news (http://www.Foxnews.Com/leisure/2012/07/09/what-need-to-know-about-jeep-death-wobble/) and acknowledged by chrysler in a technical service bulletin. I went to my local jeep dealership, chrysler technical service bulletin in-hand, spent $1,000 to replace my entire steering system at their behest to correct what they claimed was causing the violent shaking i experienced when driving my jeep on the highway, only to find, post-repair, after hitting a minor seam on the highway at a speed of 52 mph, that the "death wobble" was worse than ever, and my jeep was totally unsafe to drive. The fact that no one has died yet from losing control when their jeep starts violently shaking while they're speeding down the highway (that we can prove) due to an obvious design flaw in these vehicles is a shameful reason for the nhtsa to dismiss this issue. I've been very lucky, so far that other drivers have noticed me rapidly reducing my speed in time to get out of my way. I've been lucky that road conditions allowed me to slow down or pull over. I've been lucky to be going slow enough to reduce my speed before i lost control. I've stopped driving on the highway, stopped driving long distances, and plan to trash my jeep as soon as possible, though i just invested $1,000 in its repair. Is that right? *tr

No crash, no accident this is a complaint on safety and lack of availability to a "do it yourself" (diy) certified mechanic on brake bleeding. I am a certified aviation mechanic and well versed on bleeding brakes. On the jeep listed there is a requirement to use a scanner (the chrysler drb iii scan tool) which plugs into the obd-2 system to run the pump in the abs system. This running of the abs pump should move any air within, into the lines so that subsequent bleeding of the wheel lines will remove the air. The scanner cost is prohibitive for the diy mechanic and the owner is forced to take the vehicle to a dealer for proper bleeding of the brakes. Even a used scanner is valued at $3977 on ebay this date. There are various "tricks" to get the abs pump to run, such as a panic stop on a slick grassy surface and that will get the pump to run, but the brakes must be bled immediately to get the desired results, on the slick, grassy surface. This complaint is about the disservice to the mechanic in the field and the great safety issues that could arise with improperly bled brakes. Without the abs bled properly, the brakes are mushy and even after pumping, are not the brakes they should be for the safety of nearly a two ton vehicle. There should be an affordable scan tool that will do the job for the basic mechanic who wants to do their vehicle him/her self and those same folks shouldn't be forced to take the vehicle to the dealer just to achieve the proper safety standards. *tr

The rear brake line (steel) not the rubber line failed while pulling the vehicle out of the garage. It was completely rotted through, despite routine maintenance (bleeding of old fluid) being performed. It was determined both the front and rear lines needed replacement due to severe rot. These should have been made out of a corrosion resistant metal. *tr

Since there is no catagory for this issue i had to put visibility/wiper in order to even submit this form. There is no catagory for the heating system which there are a lot of problems!!! The accuator doors regulating the heat to the inside of the vehicle are broken. I thought by replacing the motor which controls them it would fix it. No such luck the doors are broken and not only are they almost impossible to reach without pulling the entire dashboard and console, the cost for it will be around $1500 and that is absurd for a part which is less than $100. The labor will be about $1300 to get to it. What is wrong with these people can't they design a vehicle that can be worked on without taking it apart to a level which makes me want to junk the car!! They should have put something other than plastic to control the heat in the vehicle. Now it is the middle of january in new mexico and it is freezing. Thanks jeep, i paid a lot of money for this suv and i'll never buy another amreican car again!! I had to replace the transmission 2 years ago at the tune of $3500. I rarely go on a dirt road let alone drive fast or reckless. A transmission going out at 65,000 is absurd and poor design and manufacturing. This car is nickling and dimeing me to death!! *tr

I was parked in my lot and a neighbor dropped a cigarette behind my 1999 jeep. There was ungodly gas smell and the puddle of gas that is leaking from tank ignited. I was luckily enough that i caught it at that time or it would have exploded. I just bought it and never smelled gas or thought the tank was leaking. I had to spenleaking. It is going to cost over 500 dollars for this to be fixed plus a tow bar. Please help me to see if jeep company is responsible due to recall. *tr

Without any warning my car stalls. Today it stalled in the middle of an intersection so i put my hazards on and still almost got hit also it took a good ten mins for my car to start back up nothing seem wrong with any of the parts everything was checked and it still stalls. *tr

Had some shaking but all of a sudden the truck was out of control, i could control the jeep i was veering into other lanes, could not control the jeep, holding on for life and praying not to die. I did not know what to do. I was crying and people were going around me and i just started to try to shut down on the highway then i got off the highway. I am afraid to drive at this point. I was driving at 50 mph and the vehicle started shaking violently and i had to slow down and pull over before the shaking would stop. Another time i was driving at 50 mph again and hit a small bump and the violent shaking again occurred. Again i had to slow down considerably before it stopped shaking. This is known as death wobble and chrysler knows it. They need to be held accountable for using cheap parts on jeeps. *tr

I own a 99 grand cherokee lareado every now and then the hazard lights, brake lights, and turn signals go out all at the same time. I checked fuses are all good, light bulbs new, and this problem still exist. Also the headlights are really foggy looking making it hard to see on dark roads. *tt

My speedometer does not work. I have had it fixed 2 times. Then it. Stops working again. My drivers seat rail broke on my jeep and causes the seat to wobble all around. I have a 99 jeep cherokee sport. The front end becomes uncontrollable at highway speeds when driven on anything less than perfectly smooth flat roadway surface. Applying the brakes makes the front end shimmy horrible and dangerous. You must slow to regain control, also dangerous on highways. Online research shows this is a common flaw with jeeps that have a coil-sprung front suspension with a track bar or panhard bar, referred to death wobble. This is very dangerous! *tr

A, dated october 2, 1998, which should be removed from your files and noted in the bound technical service bulletin book, publication number 81-699-99003. This is a complete revision to the procedure. Overview: this bulletin involves installing a repair harness containing a revised instrument cluster connector. Symptom/condition: some vehicles may exhibit an intermittent illumination of the air bag warning light or an intermittent tachometer or speedometer drop out. An airbag electronic control module (aecm) fault code -"no cluster ccd bus " message will be present. Diagnosis: using the drb iii, read and record all active and stored fault codes in the aecm. This condition is caused by minor oxidation of the bus circuit terminals at the instrument cluster connector. Electrical terminals will show signs of oxidation, which will appear as darkened lines or marks on the cluster male terminals. These often appear as gray or black marks rather than the appearance of oxidation or corrosion usually associated with higher current carrying circuits. This condition will set a "no cluster ccd bus" message. The fault code will usually be stored and not active. This technical service bulletin will not address fuel or oil pressure gauge issues. If this fault code is present, either active or stored perform the repair procedure. This service bulletin is common with all jeeps. There are many jeep owners with this very problem. *tr

Driver's side seat frame broke. Seat wobbles back and forth. Obviously an unsafe situation being strapped into a seat that is not properly secured to vehicle. Will force of pushing brake pedal totally separate seat from vehicle? This is a major safety issue relative to passenger restraint (me) and braking or stopping of the vehicle(others). I have read where this is a common occurrence on jeeps of the same model and year as mine. Clearly, this is a manufacturing defect. I have never had a seat frame fail on any other vehicle that i have operated. This is not rust related. It is simply a failed vehicle weight reduction program that has blossomed into a full blown safety concern for both those in the vehicle and anyone else outside of the vehicle in its general proximity. Something needs to be done as vehicle owners will continue to operate these vehicles until the seat totally severs its compromised mounting and becomes totally detached from the vehicle. Have tried to move selector control back and forth, did not help at all. Takes some time for the left-hand side of defroster to clear right-hand side. An independent mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure, but decided to replace the units as a temporary remedy. The failure occurred multiple times. The contact took the vehicle to other independent mechanics, but they were also unable to locate the failure and opted to replaced the unit. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000. The vin was unavailable.

My 1999 jeep cherokee has a broken driver's seat pan. I was coming to a red light and i heard a snap sound. I went to investigate and noticed that the metal seat pan is cracked all around the where the bolt holds it in the seat track. Now the seat rocks a little bit, and it's going to be a matter of time before the other corners crack due to the increased stress. I have not yet corrected the failure. But in order to do so, i will need a whole new seat. This is a safety issue because if these break, it will mean nothing is holding the seat in place. I know a lot of people in the jeep community that have the same problem with the seat pans breaking.

Passenger air bag went off while driving down the road in my 1999 jeep cherokee chrysler investigated and said that nothing was wrong and won't do anything to repair. But i know there was something wrong because smoke came out of the air bag module and still smell burning wires dealership said that jeep had known recall that said was performed and never was found recall on your web site it said possible air bag light or air bag deployment do to corrosion and the module was supposed to be moved to transmission tunnel but never was done and you can see corrosion all over module. My 1999 jeep cherokee sport 4dr automatic has stalled while driving 6 times in the last few months. Most times in heavy traffic, with one time while i was on a highway on ramp. Usually it restarts after a period of 2 minutes to 12 hours. I did have to have it towed once as it would not restart. I have had it into the repair shop 3 times and the computer scan continually shows no problems. My mechanic replaced the ignition control module at my insistence even though he wasn't sure that was the problem. It wasn't, as it happened again a few days ago in the middle of the night. I had no cell phone and had to walk 4 miles to get home. After research online i see it is a problem with many years, makes and models of jeeps and yet no solution can be found anywhere. I called jeep customer service and they said they can't do anything for me unless i take it to a jeep dealer, which i can't afford. Obviously there is an issue and i was hoping to find an answer with your help. *tr

Randomly while driving the speedometer and tachometer (actually all gauges) will stop working, the airbag light comes on and sometimes the check engine light comes on too. If you hit the dashboard (sometimes it takes several hits) the gauges will start working again and the airbag light goes off. Haven't had it checked by a shop yet. *tr

He had to disconnect the battery to stop the sparks and flames coming from the amp. He also had to cut the wires that were connected to the amp and remove the fuse for the radio. Insured driver was driving 30 mph when hood flew up and smacked into driver's windshield. Driver was able to stop and avoid striking anything. Driver was informed by shop that hood latch was defective. Driver had duct tape in car so she taped hood down and drove home. $1703.89 in resulting damages. *tr

As my husband and i were on our way to a relatives last weekend, the passenger side window lowered on it's own. I drove my jeep to a home, parked in the driveway, left the car running about 5-10 minutes. Near miss rear end collision due to brake lights and turn signal lights working intermittently. At times either the turn signals left and right will not work or the left and right rear brake light lamp assemblies will not work. Found a electrical grounding issue with left and right rear lamp assembly with regards to brake lights. With regards to the turn signals working intermittently problem unresolved. In addition, when vehicle is parked and locked at night the headlights and tail lamps come on and off for unknown reason. *tr

While driving on a highway the posted speed limit, my vehicle started shaking uncontrolably and i had to get off the highway to stop the car so the shaking will stop. I have had a number parts replaced such as the steering stabilizer, and the steering rod. *jb

Gas gauge fails periodically. Spoke to dealer, and was told if it is not broke don't fix it. Truck failed to start 4 days ago. Has it towed to local garage. I have been told i have a major electrical problem, but tech has not yet figured it out. Jeep only has 52,000 miles. Now mind you, since i have purchased this jeep in 1999, it has only been to a certified jeep dealer for all services. All recommended work has always been completed. Owner contacted the manufacturer, who sent an engineer to investigate. I own a 1991 jeep cherokee sp/cl 4 wd. When i take it out of 4wd it won't disingage unless i put it into reverse. The manual does not mention this. I drove for 20 miles in 4 wd without knowing it until i started to smell something. I called an auto repair shop and they told me to put it in reverse. I did and it worked.*ak

I took my 1999 jeep cherokee to a jeep dealership to determine a problem i was having with the gas gauge failing to register how much gas i had in my tank. I was charged $55.00 just to determine what the problem was. It was determined that i had a defective flotation sensor in the gas tank. The part is going to cost $124.00, not including labor. I expect the repair bill for this problem to be at least $200.00, not counting the $55.00 i've already paid just to diagnose the problem. The jeep has less than 52,000 miles on it, so i feel that this problem should not be occurring this soon. I've also found out that this seems to be a common problem in late model jeep cherokees, yet they have not been put on a recall list (at least, mine isn't on a recall list). I contacted the jeep (daimler/chrysler) headquarters to see if they would pay for the repairs, and they declined. The bottom line is that i feel i shouldn't have to pay to have this part replaced, especially since it seems to be a common problem with jeep cherokees. Plus, this vehicle has too low of a mileage to be experiencing this problem.

Seat belts. The seatbelt latch mechanism on this vehicle consist of a metal mechanism surrounded by a plastic cover. The plastic cover is poor fitting, allowing the seatbelt part to be inserted between the plastic cover and the mechanism, thereby not being fastened at all, and sometimes without realizing it until it comes apart as you drive. This is an ongoing problem which requires very careful insertion of seat belt part into mechanism, sometimes it takes several attempts to secure the seat belt.

Consumer states that while driving the vehicle will not shift gears. Had vehicle serviced, was infromed that the transmission was shot. This is a common problem, parts is back order. Ts

I have talked to various jeep cherokee owners and researched on the internet. This seems to be a very common problem with the 4.0 liter cherokee. I think it is a health related issue due to the fact the co2 gases are leaking out under the engine compartment and could enter into the interior of the vehicle.

When traveling dark area of roadway, the headlights on high beam, suddenly lights go dark. Switching back to low beam the lights do work. We replaced the headlights and the multifunction switch. The lights worked for a short period of time and then the problem occured.

The dealer said they have seen this problem in many wranglers with the same clutch and transmission. The throw-out bearing has rotated on the clutch fork and the fork has been pushed down over the throw-out bearing, causing the clutch slave to extend to the maximum, which causes the clutch not to be able to be depressed. Therefore, i was driving down the street with a non-operational vehicle. This was a dangerous situation.

I would like to add that the brake disc problem that i've encountered hasn't been a failure. However, i'm very worried about these components on all jeeps. All of my friends have jeeps and do complain about the brakes. The brakes may not stop the vehicle, rotors warp constantly under normal driving conditions, and repairs/service issues are a hassle. I would hope that this is investigated before somebody is injured or killed. Also, jasper jeep is the dealership that sold the jeep to me. They are great. The design of the power window regulator motor assembly appears to be flawed. There is a small plastic "clip" that is heat melted to the nylon movement assembly during manufacturing. This clip receives a great deal of stress during window operation and is doomed to fail from the beginning. When the clip fails, the window will "unexpectantly" drop into the door often resulting in broken or damaged glass. This could result in an accident if a driver is not prepared for this failure.*ak

While vehicle was parked consumer noticed power steering hose had rubbed through. Every time wheel was turned it rubbed on power steering hose, next to exhaust manifold. On july 4, 2000, our 1999 jeep cherokee jumped from park into drive and covered approx. 40 feet before plummeting into a hole being dug for the foundation of our new home with our then 15-mo. Son inside. The jeep flipped onto its roof trapping our son (who had fallen asleep inside) upside down within inches of more than a foot of water that had collected at the bottom. Fortunately we were able to rescue our son who was uninjured. The jeep was in park with the ac on full and was stationary for more than 15 minutes on level ground before jumping into drive. I have pictures of the jeep at the scene and the conditions prior to the accident, as well as a police report. Had 2 side wall blowouts with a 3rd tire bulging at the side. I had to pay for the first tire because nothing was suspected to be wrong, then the tires kept blowing out and the 3rd tire was caught before the blow out occurred. The back hatch doesn't stay up when cold so i have hit my head several times. The front and passenger door won't stay open when pins or mech that holds door open goes out so have been hit by door, or swings too far and has damaged outside front wheel panel. The pins and door mech on both the front and passenger and one of the back door is out again. I feel that is a defect, however i called chrysler and filed a complaint they have done nothing this is on my 1999 jeep cherokee and also on my husbands 1998 jeep cherokee he has driver door and back hatch door. *tr

Interior lights dont work with the tailgate latch replaced problem reoccurred. *ak

When braking from above 45mph, vehicle/steering wheel/pedal vibrates so excesively that it is dangerous and hard to control.Dealer has worked on this problem 5 times and repairs only lasts for approx 6 months. *ak

I was traveling 65mph, and feel asleep at the wheel. I woke up in the ditch and tried to get back on the road because an approach was coming. I was almost able to do that, but then the vehicle started to roll. It rolled two and a half times. *ak

Car was totalled and neither the driver nor the passenger air bag worked.

Vehicle experienced recall (00v-136) component failure prior to recall notification, consumer is requesting reimbursement. *mjs

Car was put into parking spot in front of apt building. Park setting of auto transmission was engaged. Vehicle was left running. Parking brake was not engaged. Driver began to exit vehicle noticed vehicle was moving forward. Driver got back into drivers seat to attempt to stop vehicle. This parking spot has only a small curb in front of parking spot. Beyond the curb is a steep bank. Car proceeded over curb and as soon as front wheels went over curb car traveled down embankment, struck 2 vehicles and came to rest. I noticed 2 1998 jeep cherokees have been reported to odi for same problem.Vehicle had some visible damage but may be totalled for damage to frame. *ak

When turning right the steering locks & you can't turn at low speeds. *ak

Consumer could feel a flutter. Rotor s were pulsing real heavily and pulling to the left. Took to dealer at 14000 miles, and they would not repair because of the warranty, consumer feels this vehicle is unsafe to drive, especially on highway.*ak vehicles manufactured through october 15 of 1998 were covered under the recall but this vehiclewas built on november 21,1998 therefore this vehicle was not covered by the recall. *yh

Brake rotors, caliper and pads worn out. Yh

There have been 9 cases of engine failure, not starting, not starting. *ak

On two occasions vehicle stalled out while travelling on highway at 50 mph. Vehicle was inspected/repaired on two occasions, and problem still occurring. *ak

Fuel cap failed. Yh

Steering dampener leaking causing front end to shake, dealer replaced dampener but it didn't correct the problem so the gear box was replaced. *slc

Seam leak water soaked carpet&dash. Dealer sealed.Leaks again

Fog light shortage from the interior switch, rear left shock squeaks non stop at low speeds, loss of electrical power when a/c is on (hot or cold), grinding noise coming from rear axle when coming out of first gear, noisy dashboard when road is bumpy, small signs of rust starting to appear on exterior, font passenger window does not go up if put down by passenger, driver side window making noise. *ak
