  On certain heavy duty trucks equipped with vertical tail pipes, the frame access grabhandle is mounted too high.

• Recall 34143 [USA]: If left undetected or corrected it could lead to the separation of the fifth wheel top plate from its mounting structure, possibly resulting in a crash.
  On certain trucks equipped with jost international jsk 37u series fifth wheels, a fatigue crack can develop in the bracket pin weld under certain loading conditions.

  Certain trucks equipped with meritor p 18x7 brakes with 36" brake chambers fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) no. 121, "air brake systems." these trucks were manufactured with a combined air reservoir volume less than 12 times the combined volume of all service brake chambers.

• Recall 54824 [USA]: This could cause an electrical short and/or possible fire hazard.
  Certain trucks equipped with trailer connections fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standards (fmvss) no. 121, "air brake systems," and no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment." the supplier removed a rubber grommet from the trailer light line connector. The vehicles are experiencing corrosion at the 7-way trailer connection. This causes intermittent flashing/flickering of the trailer lights.
  dealers will install the missing grommet on all affected chassis. If a connector is found defective, it will be replaced with a new connector. Owner notification is began on march 14, 2003.   On certain vehicles equipped with bendix tc-7 trailer control hand-operated valve with push-to-connect fittings. The delivery port in the valve body may be partially blocked due to a problem during the molding process.

• Recall 2003034 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
  On certain vehicles a rubber grommet from the trailer light line connector is missing. Kenworth chassis equipped with trailer connections are experiencing corrosion at the 7-way trailer connector with the light line because of the missing grommet, which causes intermittent flashing/flickering of the trailer lights. The elimination of this grommet allowed water to enter the connection and begin corroding, which can cause a short and/or possible fire hazard. Correction: dealer will install the missing grommet and if a connector is found defective, it will be replaced.

  On certain vehicles, fatigue cracks can initiate in the weld joining the bracket pin to its mounting flange on the fifth wheel assembly. Weld failures could lead to the loss of the pin and the potential separation of the fifth wheel top plate from its mounting structure without warning. Correction: dealers will replace the bracket pins.

  On certain vehicles, the optional battery-mounted 50 amp and/or 60 amp circuit breaker had been wired incorrectly. If enough accessories are being used simultaneously during operation of these vehicles, this error in wiring can cause the cab power and engine to shut down prematurely without warning and could result in loss of vehicle control. Correction: dealer will correct the electrical wiring if defect is found.

  On certain vehicles the power distribution box was manufactured with insufficient torque applied to the nut of the main power feed-through stud. Insufficient torque on the subject nut could lead to: 1) electrical arcing of wires inside of the pd box or, 2) an interrupted power supply to the vehicle's electrical system. Either of which could lead to a loss of vehicle electrical power and possibly vehicle control without warning. Correction: the vehicles will be inspected and the nut on the main power feed-through stud will be tightened to the proper specification.

  On certain vehicles, the delivery port inside bendix trailer hand control brake valves may be partially blocked due to a problem during the molding process. Such a blockage may slow the delivery and exhaust of air to and from the trailer brakes when they are operated by this hand control valve which may result in delayed trailer brake application and release. Correction: the dealer will inspect and replace defective valves.
