NHTSA Mandated Recalls
Recall 2018005 [Canada]: Accessories
On certain travel trailers equipped with kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by kidde directly. Note: for more information about recalled fire extinguishers, please visit www.Kidde.Com.
Recall 2011109 [Canada]: Accessories
Certain refrigerators used in recreational vehicles (rvs) contain either a sensing algorithm or a thermal switch to interrupt power when it detects high temperatures that could lead to a fire. An insufficient response time can result in the power not being shut-off in sufficient time to prevent a fire, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will install a thermocouple with a faster response time for all refrigerators with a sensing algorithm or a thermal switch.
Recall 2011108 [Canada]: Accessories
On certain fifth wheel and travel trailers, the plug-in remote control receiver used to operate the dimplex electric fireplace or electric stove may overheat. This could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: owners are advised to contact dimplex at 1-888-346-7539 for information regarding unit replacement. In the meantime, the remote control receiver should be unplugged from the electrical outlet to prevent the risk of fire.
