  • Recall R/2018/206 [UK]: Oil foam may develop in the active curve system oil reservoir
It has been determined that on model series ml/gle gl/gls (166) & gle coupe (292) with active curve system (acs) oil foam may develop in the systems oil reservoir under dynamic operating conditions and at an oil level below the minimum level and escape via the ventilation bores in the cap of the reservoir. Depending on the orientation of the two ventilation bores the escaping oil could spray onto hot component parts of the exhaust system. In this case risk of fire cannot be ruled out.
on affected vehicles replace the oil dipstick of the reservoir for the active curve system.

  • Recall 2018724 [Canada]: Steering
On certain vehicles originally sold or currently registered in areas of heavy road salt usage during winter months (quebec, new brunswick, nova scotia, prince edward island, and newfoundland & labrador), the bolts that attach the electric power steering assist motor to the steering gear housing may corrode and break. This could cause a loss of power steering assist. The resulting increase in steering effort could create the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the mounting bolts and apply a corrosion protection coating to the gear housing and bolts. If the bolts bolt cannot be removed, a replacement steering gear will be installed.

  • Recall 2018217 [Canada]: Engine
On certain vehicles equipped with the active curve system (acs), the oil in the acs’s reservoir could start foaming under certain dynamic driving situations in combination with an oil level below minimum. The oil foam could leak out of the oil reservoir through the vent holes in the sealing cap and spray onto hot surface components of the exhaust system. This could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect the acs reservoir for proper oil level and replace the sealing cap with an updated part.
