Complaint Information: OBD II Codes

NHTSA Mandated Recalls
  • Recall R/2017/124 [UK]: Faulty control unit may cause vehicle to perform outside specification
Where a control unit coding was updated in a workshop between 3 december 2016 and 5 december 2016 the coding may not correspond to the specification and may trigger unplanned action in the vehicle. The safety and emissions systems may not react as design intent.
recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and update the software in the corresponding control units.

  • Recall R/2017/157 [UK]: Brakes may overheat creating a risk of smoke and/or fire
The software for the electronic stability program (esp) is faulty. The fault could lead to a low residual pressure in the hydraulic system so the brakes are applied and gain heat. This increased heat will apply the brakes further and could adversely affect the brake fluid. Fire in the wheel housing cannot be ruled out.
recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and update the software for the esp.

  • Recall R/2020/243 [UK]: Engine control unit software to be updated
Improve the vehicle emissions via software updates.
update the relevant control unit?S software and if necessary replace the nox sensors.

  • Recall R/2020/011 [UK]: Emission output requires improvement
    Emission output requires improvement
update software in the engine control unit and replace the nox sensor if required.

  • Recall R/2021/083 [UK]: The software of certain communication modules may not meet specifications
The software of certain communication modules may not meet specifications.
carry out an update to the software of the communication module on affected vehicles.

  • Recall R/2021/082 [UK]: The communication module may be deactivated
The communication module may be deactivated
carry out a check of the configuration of the communication module on affected vehicles and if necessary activate the communication module.

  • Recall R/2021/110 [UK]: The behaviour of the emergency call system might not meet specifications
The behaviour of the emergency call system might not meet specifications.
update the software of the communication module for the emergency call system.

  • Recall R/2021/133 [UK]: The emergency call system might not meet specifications
The behaviour of the emergency call system might not meet specifications.
update the software of the communication module for the emergency call system.

  • Recall R/2021/134 [UK]: The behaviour of the emergency call system might not meet specifications
The behaviour of the emergency call system might not meet specifications.
update the software of the communication module for the emergency call system.

  • Recall R/2021/083 [UK]: The software of certain communication modules may not meet specifications
The software of certain communication modules may not meet specifications.
carry out an update to the software of the communication module on affected vehicles.

  • Recall 2017248 [Canada]: Brakes
Certain vehicles may have incorrect electronic stability program (esp) software installed. In the event a driver assist system (e.G. Adaptive cruise control) initiates automatic braking and aborts again during the early stage of brake pressure increase, a low residual pressure could remain in the hydraulic brake system. As a result, the braking system could continue applying minimal pressure with the brake pad contacting the rotor, and may heat up when driving is continued. Constant brake pad application over longer periods of driving could lead to the brake fluid heating in the brake caliper, resulting in higher pressure in the brake system. This could reduce brake performance, and increase the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will update the software for the esp.
