• Recall 77353 [USA]: In the event of a vehicle crash, the electrical fuel pump may not receive a crash signal that is required for the fuel pump to disconnect and prevent future fuel delivery as designed.
  Mercedes-benz is recalling my 2006-2008 m-class, r-class, my 2005-2009 slk-class, my 2005-2008 c-class, my 2003-2004 and 2006-2008 clk-class, my 2003-2008 e-class, my 2004 and 2008 cl-class, my 2008 cls-class, my 2004 and 2007-2008 s-class, my 2003 g-class, and my 2003-2004, 2006 and 2009 sl-class vehicles. A software calibration number (scn) coding received on the affected vehicles during a recent workshop visit was incorrect. Depending on the model year and model affected, the results of an incorrect scn coding can affect a number of vehicle safety and emission functions including the following types of functions: (1) the fuel gauge readings may be incorrect; (2) a stuck fuel-level sensor may not be displayed in the instrument cluster; (3) the obd system may cause the check engine light to illuminate incorrectly; and, (4) the speedometer may be out of tolerance.

• Recall 75215 [USA]: The presence of this moisture in combination with the thermal stress during the "reflow soldering" may damage the transistors and prevent them from properly functioning which will increase the risk of crash.
  Mercedes-benz is recalling 3,283 my 2008 s-class and cl-class passenger vehicles. A malfunction may occur on the signal acquisition and actuation module-front (sam-f) transistors. The sam-f is a double transistor that helps control vehicle functions and the lighting of the center console. Incorrect storage of the transistors led the transistors to be exposed to excess humidity.
  dealers will inspect and replace all potentially affected sam free of charge. The recall began on may 2, 2008. Owner may contact mercedes benz at 1-800-367-6372.

• Loss of rear lighting assembly investigation # EA13008

  The office of defects investigation (odi) opened an investigation based on consumer allegations of loss of rear lighting in model year (my) 2008-2011 mercedes benz c-class vehicles.Complainants alleged that one or both rear lighting assemblies fail to illuminate (i.E., all lights housed within the assembly extinguish, including the stop, tail, and turn signal functions) or illuminate dimly.In some reports, complainants also alleged that the failure was accompanied by a burning smell emanating from the trunk of the vehicle.When examined, these vehicles showed evidence of overheating at the lighting assembly harness connector, including damaged (blackened) wiring and plastic.The rear lighting failures typically involved one side of the vehicle however in some cases both assemblies failed (although probably not simultaneously).Odi identified 5 fire and one injury allegations during the course of this investigation.Two fires occurred while the vehicles were parked.One originated in the vicinity of the driver?S side light assembly where the fire and associated damage was confined to the trunk area, and the fire self extinguished due to oxygen starvation.As a result of the fire, the vehicle was repurchased by mercedes and salvaged.The second fire originated on the passengers side and required fire department response to extinguish; the fire damaged the tail light and surrounding body panels as well as the trunk area and wiring.The vehicle was repaired and returned to service.Two firesoccurred while the vehicle was being driven.In the first instance, the driver detected an odor and pulled over to observe smoking and a small flame at the lighting assembly wiring in the trunk.The owner was able to extinguish the fire before any significant damage occurred.In the second instance, the driver smelled smoke, pulled over, and opened the trunk to find smoke and sparks emanating from the forward facing side of the tail light.The driver was able to extinguish the sparks and drive the vehicle to the dealer. A fifth fire was reported by a fleet manager who observed a vehicle with fire damage originating near one of the tail light assemblies.The injury incident occurred when a technician burned their hand while diagnosing a failed light.The technician touched the tail light wiring which was hot enough to burn him although the injury did not require medical attention.On april 10th, 2014, mercedes notified odi that it would conduct a safety recall to remedy the rear light assemblies in approximately 252,867 my 2008 - 2011 c-class vehicles including the c300, c350 and c63 amg models.Each rear light assembly has separate bulbs that act as brake, tail lamp, backup and turn signal indicators.The bulbs are mounted in a "bulb carrier" which uses a common electrical ground circuit at the harness connection.According to mercedes, oxidation due to the use of dissimilar metals on the harness and bulb carrier electrical connectors can result in increased resistance and a subsequent dimming or loss of lighting function.The heat caused by the increased resistance/oxidation can also lead to the melting of the surrounding plastic, or in some cases, present a fire hazard.In conducting recall 14v-171, mercedes dealers will inspect the left and right bulb carriers and harness connectors for the presence of dissimilar electrical connectors and/or evidence of related thermal damage; affected bulb carriers and/or harness connectors will be replaced free of charge.Mercedes notes that service replacement bulb carriers produced from january 2012 eliminate the dissimilar metal condition and that these bulb carriers will not requ

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 mercedes-benz cl550. The contact stated that while making a u-turn going 5 mph, the vehicle jerked and failed to accelerate once the accelerator pedal was depressed. The abs warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over, turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle operated as designed. The vehicle was towed to mercedes-benz of pembroke pines (14199 pines boulevard, pembroke pines, fl 33027, (954) 644-5035) to be diagnosed. The mechanic determined that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000. The vin was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 mercedes-benz cl550. While driving approximately 10 mph over a speed bump, a loud noise was heard underneath the vehicle. The contact noticed that the front grill assembly was detached and the plastic piece fractured into pieces. The vehicle was taken to steven mercedes benz dealer of san jose, ca where it was determined that the failure was not a known issue and not covered by the warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall or warranty coverage. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

Transmission cooler which is in radiator cracked and allowed transmission fluid to enter motor cooling system and coolant to enter transmission completely ruining the transmission all components and computer talked to mercedes they would do oohing about total cost to repair $5000.00

Strong odor of gas after fill the tank up. The odor was outside, and it eventually disappeared when the level of gas is lower. There was also gas leaking underneath (driver's rear side). I was told to replace the fuel gasket, after doing that, the odor is now inside the car, constant fuel odor, it never disappear. Driving the car is impossible, and gas leaking underneath continues, same spot. *tr

I am writing to inform you of a very troubling incident that occurred recently. I own a 2008 mercedes benz cl550 with 31,000 miles on the odometer. On june 16, 2014, the seatbelt on my vehicle would not release from the seat, leaving me unable to buckle my seat. On top of the obvious safety hazard, illegality of driving without a seat belt, constant dinging from the vehicle to remind me that i was not buckled, which did not allow me to speak with my clients by phone in the vehicle, i had to deal with very poor handling of this matter by mbusa. I immediately brought the car into fletcher jones mercedes benz in newport beach and had my service advisor take the car in to check out the seat belt malfunction and called me to tell me it needed to be replaced and that mercedes benz usa (mbusa) would be covering 75% of the cost of the part as a gesture of 'goodwill', leaving me with about $400 of costs for labor and 25% of the part. While i was appreciative of this gesture, i was not happy about having to pay anything due to the failure of a basic vehicle safety feature. He said that i would have to take this up with mbusa directly. I brought the issue to their attention of mbusa and they refused to do anything further. The fact that a company like mbusa would not stand behind their product and take full responsibility for a very important issue such as a seat belt failure is quite disturbing. Hiding behind a warranty when peoples lives are at stake is an irresponsible company line to take. I would like to bring this issue to the attention of the nhtsa in hopes that this failure is documented and readily verifiable, should any unfortunate consumer be injured or killed by this defective product in the future. *tr

My 2008 mercedes benz cl550 is having a problem with brake. There is a thug-thug sound when i press down on the brake pedal. It goes away ~2 seconds after the gear is put into parking or neutral position. Mercedes benz knows about the problem and they told me that there is another car, a s class, that is having a same problem. S class is 4 door version of cl class. Mb told me that they are working on a new part over 3 months ago and now they are telling me that they are working on a software to fix a pressure problem in a valve. I don't understand the details but it sure sounds like an engineering issue meaning a defect. Mb said the issue is limited to a very small number of vehicles but i am not sure if that is the case. Noise was not readily noticeable but got louder so people might not notice it until later. I am very concerned because my brake pedal also feels much softer and weaker (need to press down further). I had this problem for ~4 months. *tr
