  • Recall 2021478 [Canada]: Structure
Issue: this recall is for certain vehicles inspected under mercedes-benz recall 7891003 (transport canada recall 2019-668) that require a second inspection. On certain vehicles, the sunroof glass may not be properly attached to the sliding roof frame. Over time, the glass can become loose and could separate from the vehicle. Note: this recall affects 2006 and 2007 models originally equipped with a sunroof. Additionally, some 2001-2011 models may have had an affected sunroof installed during a repair. Safety risk: a sunroof that detaches from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: mercedes-benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the bonding of the sunroof glass. Dealers will replace the sliding roof, if necessary.

  • Recall 2005094 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain vehicles, the sensotronic brake control (sbc) unit may contain a pump piston which is out of permissible tolerances. Also, vibrations within the electrical connector may cause a loss of electrical continuity. Both conditions may result in the system reverting to hydraulic function mode. A loss of brake power assist would result in increased pedal effort and extended stopping distance. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the sbc pump unit.

Car was smelling of gas on sept 2, 2013. I took it to mike smith mercedes on sept 3, 2013 talked to service rep, he said it may be the fuel pump sending unit. He said it was going to take all day for them to get to it and that it probably would cost several thousand to fix. I then took it to mercedes service, lp in beaumont tx. They found that it was leaking gas tremendously under my back seat. They fixed the problem today sept 4, 2013. This defective fuel system could have killed myself my young 5 year old daughter and wife. I called corporate mercedes and talked to a guy named ted at 800-367-6372 ext 6341. He was not much help. I had to pay out of pocket for this defect and this is something that lexus, toyota which i have also would never have such a issue. *jb

When i filled the fuel tank, the inside of the car smells very strongly of gas fumes. The whole garage smelled strongly of gas fumes and gas was dripping on the floor of the garage. If the hot water heater decided to ignite, it could have caused a fire or explosion. I believe this is a similar issue to nhtsa investigation ea 13-003. The cls class and the e class share the same chassis and fuel tank. If possible, please expand your investigation to include cls class vehicles. *tr

Cls 55, post recall on the fuel sending unit. Have taken my cls into the dealer for other things and advised them that i noticed a fuel smell in the car. They said they could not find anything, so on my way i go. Now a year later, i really notice the fuel smell when i fill up, i parked in the parking garage where i work and when i came out there was a puddle of fuel under the car on the drivers side (car was parked on a sloped garage at possibly 20 degree) and strong odor of fuel in the garage. I called mb and they said that it's not really their problem anymore. Hmmm, well, the recall didn't work, did they re manufacture that part? *tr

Our vehicle has had numerous problems despite maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's warranty. Specifically we've had a number of warranty defects including: - windshield fluid clogging - sunroof motor repair - door locking mechanism failure - battery/engine failure while driving - cracked keys - radio failure - seat adjustment knob falling off (2x) - center console breakage - rear view mirror dimming problems the most disturbing issue to date was the car recently shutting down power while my husband was driving home on a major freeway. He lost power steering and power brakes and had to maneuver the vehicle off the road on the freeway. *tr

To remove the transmission from neutral, the vehicle was either turned off and back on or placed into park and back into drive. The first time the vehicle was taken to the dealer, the transmission was reprogrammed but after 1000 miles, the problem recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who replaced the valve body but after two months the problem recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it awaits another diagnostic analysis.
