Where a control unit coding was updated in a workshop between 3 december 2016 and 5 december 2016 the coding may not correspond to the specification and may trigger unplanned action in the vehicle. The safety and emissions systems may not react as design intent. recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and update the software in the corresponding control units.
Recall R/2017/041 [UK]: Short circuit may occur
The wiring to the front windscreen washers may not have been correctly routed. This may cause a short circuit and render the wipers in operative. on affected vehicles check wiring and rework where necessary.
Recall R/2017/093 [UK]: Front airbag may be deactivated
It has been identified that the front passenger seat occupancy weight sensing system control unit may have bee incorrectly installed during assembly. If the passenger seat is placed in the rear/lower position range then it can cause the pressure hose to become kinked which will reclassify the occupant as being a child seat. This will result in the front passenger airbag being deactivated and place the occupant at a higher risk of injury if the vehicle is involved in a frontal collision. recall all affected vehicles to inspect the pressure pipe. If found to be kinked then the dealer is to contact mb technical department to establish the rectification process.
Recall R/2017/159 [UK]: electric power steering motor defective
Contacts inside the electric power steering motor may not have been correctly formed. Failure of these contacts would cause the loss of power steering assistance. If this happens a warning lamp will illuminate replace the electric power steering motor on affected vehicles.
Recall R/2017/096 [UK]: Starting current limiter may overload
Where the car incurs severe engine damage resulting in the engine failing to turn over (engine seizure) and if the driver repeatedly attempts to start the engine despite the engine not cranking the very high electrical current could lead to overheating of the starting current limiter and the potential for a fire. recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and install an additional fuse in the electrical line to the starter.
Recall R/2015/171 [UK]: Fire may occur
The engine compartment seal may not be fully secure. There is a possibility that the seal may become dislodged and fall between the engine and the fire wall. If this occurs it is possible for the seal to contact very hot items such as the catalytic converter and a fire to start. recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and fit a new seal with fittings.
Recall R/2015/210 [UK]: Engine may fail
The camshaft could break and damage the engine due to it not being manufactured to the correct specification. If the condition occurs it will lead to a sudden loss of drive thereby increasing the risk of a collision. recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the exhaust camshaft.
Recall R/2015/239 [UK]: Engine hood may not behave as intended in a collision
The reset mechanism for the dynamic bonnet (for pedestrian protection) might not have been fitted during manufacture. In the event of a head on collision where the dynamic bonnet is triggered the bonnet may not behave as designed thereby putting the vehicle occupants at higher risk of injury. recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and check if the bonnet reset mechanism is fitted. Where the reset mechanism is missing fit a reset mechanism.
Recall R/2015/259 [UK]: Risk of fire
The high pressure fuel lines have not been manufactured to the correct specification which over time can lead to crack formation and fuel leaking. Recall R/2016/275 [UK]: Risk of fire
On certain 6 and 8 cylinder engine vehicles a faulty rear engine compartment panel/bulkhead may have been installed. It is therefore possible that the panel/bulkhead may contact the left exhaust catalytic converter due to insufficient clearance. If the catalytic converter is subjected to high temperatures due to heavy driving conditions i.E. Full throttle or towing then there is a risk of the rear engine compartment panel igniting and a vehicle fire ensuing. recall all affected vehicles to inspect the clearance between the rear engine compartment panel/bulkhead and the exhaust catalytic converter. If the clearance is insufficient then the rear engine compartment panel/bulkhead will be replaced.
Recall R/2017/148 [UK]: Steering power assist may deactivate
The connector on the electric power steering control unit may not be properly sealed against water entry. If water enters the control unit the power steering assistance can be lost. The steering assistance not working could increase the risk of collision. recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the plug housing of the electric power steering.
Recall R/2017/282 [UK]: Electrical wiring in steering assembly may be insufficiently grounded
The steering column clock spring may break. This will cause warning messages to illuminate in the instrument cluster but in extreme instances it may cause the driver's airbag to deploy. affected vehicles will be recalled to establish sufficient grounding of the steering components.
Recall R/2020/243 [UK]: Engine control unit software to be updated
Improve the vehicle emissions via software updates. update the relevant control unit?S software and if necessary replace the nox sensors.
Recall R/2019/256 [UK]: To achieve an improvement in the emissions via software updates

The airbag control unit may be damaged. replace the air bag control unit on affected vehicles.
Recall R/2018/327 [UK]: The routing of the fuel feed hose might not meet specifications
Fuel hose might be incorrectly routed with a possibility of chaffing and leakage. check the routing of the fuel feed hose on affected vehicles and rework it if necessary.
Recall R/2019/089 [UK]: A lock nut may be cracked in the steering gear
A lock nut may be cracked in the steering gear. the electric power steering is to be checked and if necessary replaced.
Recall 2021514 [Canada]: Airbag
Issue: on certain vehicles, an incorrect passenger-front airbag may have been installed during a previous repair. As a result, the airbag may not inflate properly in a crash. Safety risk: an airbag that does not inflate properly can increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective action: mercedes-benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger-front airbag.
Recall 2018741 [Canada]: Airbag
On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag module. Note: canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected.
Recall 2018724 [Canada]: Steering
On certain vehicles originally sold or currently registered in areas of heavy road salt usage during winter months (quebec, new brunswick, nova scotia, prince edward island, and newfoundland & labrador), the bolts that attach the electric power steering assist motor to the steering gear housing may corrode and break. This could cause a loss of power steering assist. The resulting increase in steering effort could create the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the mounting bolts and apply a corrosion protection coating to the gear housing and bolts. If the bolts bolt cannot be removed, a replacement steering gear will be installed.
Recall 2017490 [Canada]: Airbag
On certain vehicles, electrostatic discharge, when combined with a broken clock spring and insufficient grounding of the steering components, could lead to an inadvertent deployment of the driver's frontal airbag. Unintended airbag deployment, in a non-warranted (non-impact) situation, could startle the driver, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. In some instances, inadvertent deployment could cause minor injuries to vehicle occupants. Correction: dealers will add sufficient grounding to the steering components. Note: a broken clock spring would result in a driver airbag warning message appearing in the instrument cluster, as well as a red airbag warning lamp illuminating.
Recall 2017062 [Canada]: Engine
On certain vehicles, the starting current limiter could be overloaded under certain conditions. In the event the starter is blocked, a very high electric current could flow through the starting current limiter during repeated engine starting attempts. The high electric draw could cause the starting current limiter to overheat causing the surrounding components to melt which would increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction : dealers will install an additional fuse in the electrical line to the starter.
Recall 2015359 [Canada]: Engine
On certain vehicles, the rubber seal at the top edge of the secondary bulkhead of the engine compartment may have been damaged during manufacturing. Should a sufficient length of rubber seal be displaced from the bulkhead, and the seal were to drop down, it could result in the loose end of the seal contacting exhaust components. This could increase the risk of fire resulting in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the rubber seal in the engine compartment.
Recall 2015058 [Canada]: Structure
On certain vehicles, a rubber seal mounted on the firewall may come loose. If the seal was to come loose and fall onto the exhaust system, this could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will attach additional retaining clips.
Recall 2014585 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
On certain vehicles, the second row rear seat double belt buckle may contain a defect which could cause the buckle for the rear middle seat position to fail in a severe frontal crash, potentially allowing the seat belt to become disconnected from the buckle. This would increase the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will replace the double seat belt buckle.
Recall 2014546 [Canada]: Engine
On certain vehicles equipped with four-cylinder diesel engines, the timing chain tensioner gasket could fail, causing an oil leak. If the vehicle is operated in this condition, this could cause engine failure, which would result in a loss of motive power. Oil leaking onto hot engine surfaces could also increase the risk of a fire. These issues could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the timing chain tensioner gasket.
