  • Recall R/2017/124 [UK]: Faulty control unit may cause vehicle to perform outside specification
Where a control unit coding was updated in a workshop between 3 december 2016 and 5 december 2016 the coding may not correspond to the specification and may trigger unplanned action in the vehicle. The safety and emissions systems may not react as design intent.
recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and update the software in the corresponding control units.

  • Recall R/2011/172 [UK]: Fuel may leak
Fuel leaks in the plug area of the drain opening may occur at the fuel filter with integrated fuel heaters. Fuel can escape and is noticeable to the customer due to a corresponding diesel odour. The diesel can reach the road and as a result friction between the tyres and road surface may be decreased.
check filter and replace as necessary.

  • Recall R/2011/116 [UK]: Steering may become heavy
Power steering assistance may be lost due to an implausible signal occurring in the control unit. The mechanical steering of the vehicle is maintained but greater input from the driver will be required. When the fault occurs warning will be delivered both visually on the vehicle display and audibly via a signal tone.
recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the electric power steering units.

  • Recall R/2019/458 [UK]: The bonding between the glass panel and the sliding roof frame may not meet specifications
The bonding between the glass panel and the sliding roof frame might not meet specifications

Certain specific calibrations of functions must be changed in the engine management of the vehicles
update the diesel engine control unit software and add a supplementary booklet for the operator?S manual.

  • Recall 2021514 [Canada]: Airbag
Issue: on certain vehicles, an incorrect passenger-front airbag may have been installed during a previous repair. As a result, the airbag may not inflate properly in a crash. Safety risk: an airbag that does not inflate properly can increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective action: mercedes-benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger-front airbag.

  • Recall 2021478 [Canada]: Structure
Issue: this recall is for certain vehicles inspected under mercedes-benz recall 7891003 (transport canada recall 2019-668) that require a second inspection. On certain vehicles, the sunroof glass may not be properly attached to the sliding roof frame. Over time, the glass can become loose and could separate from the vehicle. Note: this recall affects 2006 and 2007 models originally equipped with a sunroof. Additionally, some 2001-2011 models may have had an affected sunroof installed during a repair. Safety risk: a sunroof that detaches from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: mercedes-benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the bonding of the sunroof glass. Dealers will replace the sliding roof, if necessary.

  • Recall 2018741 [Canada]: Airbag
On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag module. Note: canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected.

  • Recall 2016158 [Canada]: Airbag
On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: dealers will replace the front driver air bag module.

  • Recall 2010331 [Canada]: Steering
On certain vehicles, the power steering system may fail due to the loss of power steering fluid. A fitting on the high-pressure power steering line at the connection to the pump may not have been sufficiently torqued during the production process. Over time this may result in the fitting backing-off which could cause a loss of power steering fluid. A loss of power steering could result in a vehicle crash. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, tighten the connection fitting. The o-ring seal will be replaced as a precautionary measure in all cases where the connection fitting shows evidence of loosening.

The trunk release feature on my 2010 e-class mercedes-benz key will engage in my pocket without actually pressing the button occasionally. This has happened multiple times (approximately 10 times) in the 4 month period i have owned the vehicle. The most recent occasion resulted in everything in my trunk being stolen in the middle of the night. I suspect it is the flawed/poor design on the key as i have never had this problem with any other trunk release function on any of my other cars. Since the event, i have resorted to the manual lock feature that effectively disables the keyless entry function.
