Defective transmission in 2002 mercedes benz s430.*mr the repair records indicated the transmission was not the problem, but in fact the problem was caused by a defective esp sensor which sent out a false alarm to a safety device and without warning to the driver, it caused the engine power to be cut in half suddenly, the engine began to knock loudly and the vehicle started to vibrate while the speed of the vehicle was cut approximately in half. *ts *jb

The speed was reduced to 20-30mph and had to stay in the far right lane. The problem was diagnosed as a faulty esp(electronic stability program) control module which had sent a false warning. Headlights automatically come on at night, and cannot be easily turned off which sometimes causes a glaring light to other drivers and vehicles.
