NHTSA Mandated Recalls
Recall 2021436 [Canada]: Structure
Issue: on certain buses, the service door may not be adjusted correctly. As a result, the door panels may get stuck when the emergency release handle is used, or may not open when force is applied to the door. Additionally, the exterior emergency release handle may not allow the service door to be opened from outside of the bus. Safety risk: a door that cannot be opened could delay exiting the bus in an emergency. This could also delay emergency response. Both of these issues could increase the risk of injury. Corrective actions: micro bird will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a dealer to adjust the service door. Alternatively, micro bird will provide owners instructions on how to correctly adjust the service door.
Recall 2014455 [Canada]: Other
On certain buses equipped with a ricon wheelchair lift, the lift platform sides may crack, which could cause the lift to lean against the vehicle door(s) and potentially fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, putting the lift operator at risk of injury. Correction: ricon corporation repair facilities will inspect lift platforms for cracks and repair as necessary, and install a repair kit.
Recall 2010026 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
On certain vehicles, some freedman double foldaway passenger's seats seat belts fail to comply with the strength requirement of the canada motor vehicle safety standards. In the event of a crash, the seat and seatbelt assembly may not restrain the occupant as intended and could result in personal injury or death. Correction: a steel plate will be added under the floor over the actual reinforcement seat support at the attachment point of the seat.
Recall 2010089 [Canada]: Other
On certain vehicles equipped with a ricon f9 series cassette wheelchair lift, an improperly manufactured switch in the wheelchair lift restraint buckle may allow operation of the lift with the safety belt not fully latched. If the belt is not properly fastened, a wheelchair may not be adequately protected against unwanted movement, resulting a fall risk, potentially causing serious injury or death. Correction: the manufacturer will provide instructional information and warning decals.
Recall 2022219 [Canada]: Electrical
Issue: on certain buses, an unused wiring harness located in the b-pillar area could become damaged. If this happens, the wires could short circuit. Note: this recall only affects buses built on a general motors chassis. Safety risk: a short circuit could create the risk of a fire. Corrective actions: micro bird will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to inspect the wiring and correct this problem.
