• Recall 515 [USA]: Low oil levels in the transfer case could cause bearing damage and result in drive train lockup, increasing the risk of a crash.
  On certain passenger vehicles, a condition exists that allows oil to leak from the all-wheel drive transfer case.

Vehicles that have oil leakage will have the transfer case resealed and re-fill the transfer case to the proper level, or replaced the transfer case if there is evidence of damage. Owner notification is expected to begin december 9, 2002. Tl* the contact owns a 1992 mitsubishi 3000gt. The contact noticed oil leaking from underneath the vehicle. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 02v143001 (power train); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Momentum mitsubishi in fairfield, ca was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer stated that they would no longer be obligated to repair the vehicle due to the age of the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The cars faulty ecu caused me to stall my car in traffic. Almost causing 4 consecutive traffic accidents. I had to call a tow truck after moving the car across 3 lanes of high volume traffic. My ecu might be fried, im lucky it didn't catch on fire

He referenced recall 02v143001 (power train transfer case (4- wheel drive) for which the repairs had been performed when the vehicle was in the possession of the a previous owner. The contact took the vehicle to an authorized dealership where he was informed that the failure had occurred again. On another day, the vehicle caught fire because of a short in the suspension module. The failure mileage was approximately 143,000. The current mileage was approximately 146.000.

I went to have my transfer case recalled per the federal mandated safety recall, el cajon mitsubishi inspected transfer case there was damage to the shaft, a tooth was sheared off and whole assembly is hard to rotate. They refused to replace it, just resealed the transfercase and denied me the full repair. *tr

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for the recall repair service. After 20,000 miles, the transfer case locked. The contact feels that the recalled component was defective. The vehicle is not in operating condition. He also observed a malfunction in the front driver and passenger seat belts. The vin was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 140,000.

He stated that he had to depress the brake pedal to the floor for the brakes to slowly engage at the last minute. At one point, the contact had to drive off the road to avoid crashing into another vehicle. The vehicle was able to be driven at 10 mph and has not been taken to the dealer. While entering onto the freeway i experience stumbling and/or no power while trying to build up speed to enter into traffic. Therefore, most times, nearly getting hit or causing an accident from someone swerving into another car to keep from hitting me. After extensive and expensive long term testing, the problem was diagnosed to be bad capacitors in my ecu. Within under 2 years of having it fixed i am experiencing the same problem. In researching this problem i have come to find that it is a common occurrence with this make of vehicle. *tr

I own a dodge stealth and the front driver and passenger seat belts do not functions properly. They haven't worked since i have had the vehicle. When you pull the belt out to strap it in it does not retract on its own. The belt rarely locks when braking . I don't not fell the belt will protect me in an accident.*ak
