• Recall 83873 [USA]: If the area in question fractures or breaks, this could cause an unstable driving condition, possibly resulting in a crash.
  Curt mfg is recalling certain class 3 receiver hitches, p/n 13347, sold as aftermarket equipment for use on 1997-2007 chrysler town and country vans, 1996-2007 dodge caravans, and 1996-2004 plymouth voyager vans. When the hitch is loaded to the maximum rating, the hitch may fracture or break at the bend location where the main body of the hitch meets the hitch muffler strap.

• Recall 59357 [USA]: Loss of brake fluid can lead to a decrease in brake line pressure and an increase in stopping distance, which can result in a vehicle crash.
  Certain aftermarket brake hydraulic master cylinders sold as replacement brake cylinders for certain ford, daimlerchrysler, and jeep passenger vehicles. These brake cylinders were sold under the brand names of napa, raybestos, aimco, ac delco, carquest, bendix, and wagner. Only products that were manufactured from july 27, 2005 through january 17, 2006 (date codes 0529 through 0602) are subject to this recall. When subject to very cold temperatures, an internal seal in the master cylinder could lose flexibility and may cause brake fluid to leak.

• Recall 59143 [USA]: If this condition occurred while the vehicle is in motion, the engine could stall. also, in the presence of an ignition source, the fuel leak could result in a vehicle fire.

The filter may experience malfunction of the quick connector either blocking fuel flow to the engine or causing a fuel leak. • Recall 5411 [USA]: Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire.
  Vehicle description: mini vans built with 3.3l and 3.8l engines have fuel rails with nitrole rubber o-ring seals that can degrade over time. Fuel leakage from the underhood fuel injection fuel rail could result, increasing the likelihood of a vehicle fire.
  dealers will install a seal on the vehicle fuel rails to prevent external leakage of fuel from the fuel rail crossover tube, should the existing o-rings continue to degrade. Owner notification began on january 25, 2002. Due to the large quantity of vehicles involved in this campaign, the owner notification will be phased over the next several months.   Vehicle description: mini vans equipped with integrated child seats. The shoulder harness restraint on the integrated child seat can become difficult to extract when the safety belt latch plate becomes contaminated.

An extender will be added to the emergency release anchor for the child seat safety belts so that the release clips are more visible and accessible to the operator in the event that the retractor mechanism can not be unlocked. • Recall 11147 [USA]: The latch plate located in the seat cushion area must be free to move back against its stop after the buckle is removed to allow the shoulder belts to be pulled out. always be sure the area around the latch plate is free of food or other items that might prevent the latch plate from moving back.
  Vehicle description: multipurpose passenger vehicles equipped with integral child seats. This is not a safety recall in accordance with federal regulation 573. However, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. On the integral child seat, the shoulder belts restraining the child retract and lock in place after the belt buckle is connected to the latch plate. The latch plate movement locks the belts to make sure the child is restrained in the case of a vehicle crash.

  On certain vehicles equipped with the 3.3l or 3.8l engine the nitrile "o-ring" seals used in the fuel rail may degrade over time and extended exposure to elevated temperatures. This could result in fuel leakage, and, in the presence of an ignition source, an underhood fire could occur. Correction: external seals will be installed at both of the fuel rail crossover tube joints. If the crossover tube joints are leaking or red rust exists in the area, the fuel rail assembly must be replaced.

  Note: this recall has been superseded by recall 97-107 (chrysler-714). The master cylinder rear seal between the hydraulic fluid and the vacuum reservoir, may not seal adequately. This can allow hydraulic fluid to be drawn into the power assist vacuum reservoir. Loss of brake fluid will result in illumination of the instrument panel brake warning lamp. Continued operation of the vehicle with the warning lamp illuminated may result in extended stopping distances.   This investigation was opened january 16, 2002, based on seven reports alleging the third row seat belt retractors failed on certain 1997 and 1998 model year caravan and voyager vehicles.The reports indicated a tar like substance entered the retractor mechanism, thus causing the retractor to jam or bind.In this condition the seat belt is rendered inoperable, as the webbing cannot retract or be withdrawn from the retractors for use.Recall scope:the affected vehicles are 1997 through 1999 dodge caravan, plymouth voyager, and chrysler town & contry built on a short wheel base chassis.The inclusive dates of production are june 1996 through october 31, 1999.Recall remedy: daimlerchrysler dealers will replace the mastic sound barrier patches with foam blockers, as well as, inspect and replace all third row rear seat belt assemblies contaminated by the mastic patch.

Tl* the contact owns a 1997 plymouth voyager. While traveling approximately 30 mph, the vehicle erupted into flames. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and noticed that the engine was not running. The vehicle would not change gears and was coasted to the side of the road. The contact was able to extinguish the flames with a water hose from a residential home. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting for a response to determine how the failure occurred and if the vehicle could be repaired. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 98v185000 (child seat), 02v076000 (seat belts), and 02v293000 (air bags), but the contact not receive notification of the recalls to receive the repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 300,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 1997 pylmouth voyager. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 138,000 and the current mileage was 141,321. Updated 10/02/14*lj the consumer stated the fuel filter leaked and rubber o-ring could cause a fire. Tl* the contact owns a 1997 plymouth voyager. The contact stated that the instrument panel lighting would not illuminate and the gauges failed to operate. The failure recurred intermittently. The manufacturer was not made aware pf the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 1997 plymouth voyager. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the fuel tank detached from the vehicle. The contact was able to safely stop the vehicle and upon examining the vehicle, the contact noticed that one of the fuel tank straps had fractured due to corrosion. The contact applied a temporary strap as a remedy. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 175,000.

After starting vehicle, stepped on brake pedal, pedal went to floor. Leak was at corroded portion of rear steel brake line. Fortunately, failure occurred before shifting into gear. This was second occurrence of corroded steel brake line. First occurrence was 1 year ago. Both failures occurred while in driveway before shifting into gear. Pretty lucky! *tr

Strut towers are corroded to the point you can see through the top off the strut tower halfway around the top. There is numerous complaints of this and if i had not been informed of this it would have lead to a failure of the strut support. I am concerned that this has not been addressed previously. I called the manufacture and they are aware of the problem although they are not willing to repair it at their costs. Please just do a search of the internet. You will find this is a issue that requires immediate attention in order to save lives or injuries. *tr

To whom it may concern my name is katie olson i drive a 1997 plymouth voyager van with the built in car seats. That is what sold me the van i thought they would be safer for my children. Last week i took my kids to the park and i went to release the belt and it retracted to my two year old daughters neck. I could not get it off of here i had to cut it off after a half hour of trying to loosen it. It was so tight i couldn't put my finger between her throat and the belt. I have a 97 plymouth grand voyager that i have had for 2 yrs. When i bought the van everything was working properly. For about a year now i have been having problems with the electrical system. First my cruise control stopped working,then my horn,now my blinkers only work sometimes and alot of times i have to turn on my bright lights for the blinkers to work. The airbag light is always on which means it is not functioning correctly. These are big problems with the wiring system and it is very expensive to have the whole thing rewired. My husband is a mechanic and he said it will cost over $1000 to have everything fixed correctly. *tr
