• Recall 88037 [USA]: The temperature increase at the wheel end can eventually lead to soft pedal conditions due to brake fluid boil, and possible extended stopping distance increasing the risk of a crash.
  Navistar is recalling certain model year my 2001-2008 workhorse w20, w21 and w22 chassis and certain model year 2009 through 2011 monaco rv admiral, arista, monarch, and riptide recreational vehicles equipped with axles that include bosch zops or zoht pin slide hydraulic disc brakes. When combined with occasional or seasonal vehicle operation may experience calipers sticking in the applied position. This can result in abnormal heat generation at the wheel end causing brake drag. The driver would normally have warning of the brake drag if undetected by the driver.

• Recall 79873 [USA]: Release of coolant under certain conditions could ignite and result in a fire.
  Tiffin is recalling 3,507 my 2004-2007 allegro, allegro bay and allero bus, my 2004-2005 phaeton and my 2005-2007 zephyr motor homes equipped with a two-door refrigerator manufactured by the dometic corporation. The refrigerator may have a defect in the boiler tube. Pressurized coolant solution could be released into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present.
  tiffin will be working with dometic in order to repair these refrigerators (please see 08e032). Dometic will repair these refrigerators by installing a secondary burn housing, a thermal fuse, and a melt fuse free of charge. Dometic has retained stericycle inc. To manage this campaign. Stericycle will assist the owner in locating dealerships or service centers and will provide assistance with scheduling of appointments. • Recall 72885 [USA]: The operator may notice higher required steering wheel inputs, or the need for more steering wheel adjustments while driving in a straight line in combination with metallic cracking noises prior to a loss of steering. loss of steering could result in a vehicle crash.
  Certain motor homes built on freightliner chassis and equipped with zf model 8018 steering gears may have been assembled with the incorrect recirculating ball spacer. This could potentially allow the recirculating balls to escape from the recirculating ball circuit resulting in a loss of steering.

• Recall 50642 [USA]: At night the instrument cluster lights may fail and the driver may not be able to see the instrument panel gauges and the brake warning light indicator which could increasing the risk of a crash.
  Certain motor homes built on workhorse chassis and equipped with actia corporate instrument clusters fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 101, controls and displays, and no. 105, hydraulic and electric brake systems. If the brake fail input falls below a voltage of 1.5v, the brake failure lamp and alarm will be activated. Also activation of the abs telltale when the abs is not properly functioning does not always occur.

• Recall 61674 [USA]: When the torque is relaxed, the lugs can become loose resulting in excessive heat within the connected wire that could result in a fire.
  On certain motor homes containing a 50 amp transfer switch built by intellitec, the material used for the wire lugs was changed from nickel plated to copper lugs. The copper lugs are softer than the nickel plated and do not retain the torque of the screw that clamps the wire connector.

Incorrect software programmed into the instrument panel cluster may not allow activation of certain driver warning indicators.   On certain motorhomes, the internal rubber check valve inside the bendix sr-7 spring brake modulating valve can become deformed over time. The effect of this defect is intermittent and presents a potential delay or failure in applying the parking brakes; potentially resulting in a vehicle roll away. Should this occur, the unattended roll away vehicle could strike a bystander or cause property damage. Correction: dealers will install a check valve repair kit.

• Potential movement of washer/dryer investigation # PE05014

  In january 2005, tiffin issued a service bulletin (unnumbered) entitled ¿service bulletin for potential movement of washer/dryer.¿the bulletin addressed the possibility that the washer and dryer could move unexpectedly while the motorhome is being driven.During discussions with tiffin, odi learned that two incidents had been reported where the washer and dryer fell or tipped over into the living space.On april 7th, 2005, tiffin notified odi that after further review, they had decided that this issue should be resolved by conducting a safety recall campaign and subsequently filed safety recall 05v-145 (copy attached). Tiffan will be installing a kit that prevents the movement of the washer and dryer assembly. This action resolves the issues raised by this investigation. This investigation is closed.

On june 8, 2010, my wife and i were traveling in our 2005 ///tiffin(allegro bay) motorhome when the brakes overheated and we lost all brakes. This was the first time that we experienced brake failure. Bergey's garage in franconia, pa., transported our vehicle to their facility and repaired the calipers on both rear brakes plus other collateral damage. Pictures were taken and they contacted workhorse custom chassis in troy, mi to find out what they would cover since a safety recall notice 50901 c was issued. *tr

Tl*contact owns a 2005 allegro bay motor home. While driving 40 mph and stopping at a rest area, the contact smelled something burning. He attempted to find the location of the burning odor and was unsuccessful; however, after re-entering the vehicle the contact applied the brakes and they extended to the floor. He was able to drive to a local mechanic who stated that the rotors were cracked and that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The abs sensor light remained illuminated after the rotors and brake pads were replaced. Another independent mechanic stated that the sensors were melting to the frame which caused the abs light to stay on. The abs sensor and calipers were replaced. The contact notified the manufacturer regarding reimbursement and the claim was denied since the calipers were being replaced. The current mileage was 0 and the failure mileage was 34,795.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 tiffin allegro bay motor home. He received recall notice #09v110000( component: service brakes, hydraulic) stating that the dealers will inspect and replace the necessary components of the abs system; however, the remedy was not available. The owners will be notified by mail when parts are available, and they can contact workhorse for assistance. He called workhorse at least six times and was repeatedly advised by a representative that they do not have the parts. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 16,000.

Dt: the contact states the headlights on his 2005 tiffin alegro motor home were not bright enough to see properly. When the high beams were on the low beams did not stay on as well. He called the dealership, and they indicated the bulbs were being replaced with different bulbs bought at a local store. The contact did not think this will correct the problem. *ak updated 12/27/05. *jb

Dt: consumer states that while making a left turn steering locked up. He then disconnected the steering device, which was located under the motor home. This caused the steering to free up, and he took the vehicle to the dealer, and the consumer was told the device had been taken back to blue ox . There was a machining problem on a piston or a cylinder which caused it to seize up.*ak
