I read recently in a tiffin magazine (volume 13, #1) about a carlisle hydraulic park brake failure. I am the original owner. Although i have not experienced a failure yet, i am anticipating such failure.

Nhtsa campaign number: 07e033000 cummings engine serial number 46565687 on 6/02/2015 the wrist pin failed on this engine that fall in the serial number range 46543077 to 46603939. The wrist pin failed while driving on la 1 about to turn onto i49 causing catastrophic engine failure. The engine had to be replaced. Contacted tiffin about it and local cummins dealer at time of failure. Tiffin was unaware of recall and local cummins dealer would not work on the motor home. Had a local engine company do the replacement of engine and they were never made aware of the recall. Last night while researching the internet, i stumbled upon the nhtsa campaign number. Called tiffin to confirm engine serial number was 46565687 and made them aware of the nhtsa campaign number. Also confirmed with consolidated truck & service again to confirm they had not heard of nhtsa campaign which was "no". Then proceeded to call cummings 1-800-343-7357 and was told to take it to the "local" dealer. Since that is where the motor home originally, they refused to work on it, work had been completed elsewhere then who inside cummings did i talk too? At that point he told me he couldn't help me and would not transfer me his boss. At this point i would like a contact at cummins who understands the problem and willing to work on covering the cost of replacing the engine that obviously failed due to a known problem. Re tiffin vehicle built on freightliner chassis, owner is concerned that the parking brake system could fail and, if so, replacement parts may not be available and/or be costly since the owner alleges that the manufacturer for the parking brake system is either out-of-business or no longer mfg these parking brake system components. 2006 allegro bay motorhome. Consumer writes in regards to brake issues with vehicle *tgw the consumer stated while driving 65 mph, the auto park warning light illuminated and then the brake engaged which caused the motorhome to immediately come to a stop. The rv would not move until the drive shaft was removed. The rv was towed to the dealer, where all the connections were cleaned and reconnected and the warning light was turned off. On april 13, 2012 the warning light illuminated again. The parking brake unit was replaced. Once it was replaced , it was determined the electronic control module was the cause.

There was a recall on the refrigerator in my motorhome , prior to the recall i had never had a problem with the refrigerator ... The manufacturer sent someone to the r.V.To put the recall kit on it and a short time later it caught fire , done approximately $7000.00 of damage to the unit.... I definitely believe this was a manufacturer defect problem . *tr

Traveling down road and smelled burning. Parked after a short distance until next day. Brakes were not releasing. Next day after cooling, the vehicle was taken to a service facility, however advised brakes were fine. Approximately a month later i was bringing the vehicle to a dealer for an unrelated matter. I had driven approximately 75 miles and was near the dealer when the same smell occurred. Dealer found the left front brake caliper had failed. It was changed. Approximately february of this year, i had left my house and traveled approximately 3 miles when same smell appeared and brakes dragging. Turned around and went home. The right front caliper had failed and melted the abs sensor which have since both been changed. Concerned about rear brakes failing. *tr

After exiting interstate, stopping at end of ramp, making left turn, proceeding 2 miles then turning left into campground, my brake pedal went to the floor and pumping barely got us stopped. Upon exiting mh the hot brake smell and smoke were coming from rear tires. We let mh sit for time to cool brakes so we could get to parking spot. Emer. Road service was called and we were towed next day to repair shop for motorcoaches. Repair needed was extensive and all associated brake parts were replaced including pads, calipers, oil seals, abs sensors, rear end fluid, brake fluid flushing. Front brakes were inspected, found ok, but pads were replaced as precaution. The brakes had hardly been used during drive on interstate since i have exhaust brake. There had been no previous trouble with brakes. We had another incident of rear brakes overheating 8/19/11 after driving several miles on level road. There were only 2 times brakes needed to be used and both gentle stops. Mileage 42174. Mechanic was called to check for damage but we were lucky, he found none. While in vegas we had recall fl577c (brake switch) done and i asked service mgr.About brake recalls of other kinds he said none. I had also asked previous service mgr. About recalls on brakes because i was aware bosch brake recall on workhorse chassis, again none was the answer. *tr

2006 allegro bay. My problem deals with the recall on the dometic refrigerator that is installed in my rv. My refrig. Falls in the group of affected units. The recall addresses replacing a shield over the gas (flame) to protect against fire if the tube, on the refrig. Cracks, and leaks onto the flame therefore causing a fire. I understand this, however this is not the problem the tube breaking is the problem and that causes the fluid to leak down onto the gas/flame. The company tells me that they are not repairing the defective/ cracked tubes. This seems completely absurd to me. They are not fixing the problem only the possibility of a fire after their defective product brakes causing the leak. *tr
