Date Group No. Release Page 6.2012 261 790 02 1( 5 ) Static Fill Coolant Pipe LEU, MRU Cummins ISL-G PI0790, Static Fill Coolant Pipe (June 2012) The static fill coolant pipe from the expansion tank can make contact with the starter solenoid wire and rub through the wire insulation on some MACK LEU and MRU trucks equipped with a Cummins ISL-G natural gas engine. A spacer (part number 25106640), fastener (part number 995455), and nut (part number 990939) will be used to relocate the static fill pipe away from the starter solenoid wire. Additionally, if any starter solenoid wires are exposed, the starter must be replaced with a new starter (part number 21398109). Note: This bulletin does not apply to MACK Trucks Australia. Service Program Date 6.2012 Group No. Release 261 790 02 Procedure You must read and understand the precautions and guidelines in Service Information, group 20, "General Safety Practices, Engine" before performing this procedure. If you are not properly trained and certified in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training before you perform it. 1 Apply parking brake and place shift lever in neutral. 2 Raise cab. 3 Disconnect all cables from the negative (ground) battery terminals to prevent personal injury from electrical shock and prevent damage to electrical components. 4 Remove the P-clamp fastener and nut securing the static fill coolant pipe to the stanchion. W2073200 5 Loosen fastener and nut securing pipe and p-clamp at stand-off bracket on the left side of engine. Note: Store the fastener and nut for future use. W2073201 Page 2( 5 ) Mack Trucks, Inc. Service Program Date 6.2012 Group No. Release 261 790 02 6 Pull static fill coolant pipe away from the stanchion. W2073202 7 Assemble the spacer (part number 25106640, Item 2), fastener (part number 995455, item 1), nut (part number 990939, item 3) and p-clamp onto the static fill pipe and stanchion. Tighten fastener to 10 ± 1.5 Nm (89 ± 13 in-lb). W2073203 Page 3( 5 ) Mack Trucks, Inc. Service Program Date 6.2012 Group No. Release 261 790 02 8 Visually inspect the starter solenoid wire for any exposed wires. Note: If any wires are exposed, replace the starter (part number 21398109). Place a separate claim for starter replacement toward this service program if replaced. W2073204 9 Assemble fastener and nut securing pipe and p-clamp at stand-off bracket on the left side of engine. Tighten fastener to 10 ± 1.5 Nm (89 ± 13 in-lb). Service Program Date 6.2012 Group No. Release 261 790 02 Note: To signify that the campaign has been completed, using a permanent-type marker (such as a Sharpie®) to write the campaign number (PI0790) and completion date in the spaces provided on the Campaign Completion label located inside the cab as shown in the illustration below. If a label is not already affixed inside the cab, apply a label (part No. TS897) and supply the information as required. Campaign Completion labels are available in packs of 50 and can be ordered by faxing a completed BR313 to Pacesetters Business Services at 610-264-9465.
