2013 ALTIMA SEDAN; LANE DEPARTURE WARNING AND
BLIND SPOT WARNING SYSTEMS SERVICE INFORMATION
APPLIED VEHICLE: 2013 Altima Sedan (L33) equipped with LDW and BSW systems
SERVICE INFORMATION
This bulletin contains diagnostic information related to 2013 Altima Sedan vehicles
equipped with the Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Blind Spot Warning (BSW) systems.
Although the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) should be used primarily when inspecting,
diagnosing, and repairing LDW / BSW related issues, the supplemental information in this
bulletin will assist in these areas. A sample of the items covered in this bulletin include:
• What to check / inspect first when a BSW / LDW related warning is shown in the
Vehicle Information Display
• What to check / inspect when the BSW and / or LDW lights are flashing
• If and when to diagnose stored DTCs related to BSW and / or LDW
Refer to the next two pages.
Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are
properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly
and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume
that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle.

LDW/BSW Supplemental Diagnosis

•
LDW / BSW lights to the left of the Vehicle Information Display are flashing

•
LDW / BSW does not meet customer expectations (possibly related to environmental
issues i.e. rain, etc.)

Preliminary Checks
Issues with other systems may trip a BSW / LDW related DTC due to improper
communication. Resolve the cause of any DTCs for other systems first that are not related
to the ITS (Intelligent Technology Suite) system. Once the non- BSW / LDW related DTCs
are resolved, check for BSW / LDW related lights / DTCs again.
Possible causes for DTC U1308:
•
Part(s) have been replaced:
¾ RR camera
¾ ITS controller
•
Disconnected / loose connections:
¾ RR camera
¾ ITS controller
¾ ITS switch
•
Wrong part installed (may show error 2 when calibrating):
¾ RR camera is not ITS camera
¾ Dash switch
Additional notes:
•
IBA (Intelligent Brake Assist) light may turn on if the ITS controller is disconnected.
•
ITS system is sensitive to heavy rains and wet surfaces (this is stated in owner’s
manual). Customer comment may state system is not working properly or note that
system shuts off when no objects exist.
Example: The camera unit detects reflected images of vehicles or roadside
objects that are not actually in the detection zone, especially when the road is
wet. Refer to the 2013 Altima Sedan Owner’s Manual, page 5-22.
•
LDW / BSW white icons in dash will blink on and off if the system is temporarily
disabled. The “clean camera” message may also appear in the Vehicle Information
Display. Normally, this is due to low washer fluid level. “Washer Fluid Low” warning
will appear in the Vehicle Information Display.
•
If LDW / BSW white icons in dash blink and / or the “clean camera” message
appears in the Vehicle Information Display and washer fluid is OK, test the washer
pump related to the camera cleaning system located in the trunk. Other possible
causes to check would be the pump ECU in the trunk and / or washer hoses to make
sure fluid is properly getting to the camera cleaning system.
•
“Initialize Camera Image Calibration” in CONSULT III plus: Do not use this feature
unless instructed by NNA personnel i.e. TECH LINE, etc.
•
When a NAVI system has been replaced, it is possible that ITS concern items may
have been disconnected or triggered. Check for DTCs and if necessary, recalibrate
the ITS system.
