INTRODUCTION Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign to replace the torque converter on certain 2015 Altima, Rogue, and NV200 vehicles at no charge for parts or labor. IDENTIFICATION NUMBER Nissan has assigned identification number PC346 for 2015 Altima and Rogue and PM554 for 2015 NV200 to this campaign. These numbers, as they apply, must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign. DEALER RESPONSIBILITY Dealers are to correct each vehicle falling within the range of this campaign that enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in a dealer’s inventory. Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/4 SERVICE PROCEDURE Replace Torque Converter 1. Replace the torque converter. Refer to the applicable Electronic Service Manual (ESM), section TM-Transaxle & Transmission, for torque converter replacement. CVT Fluid Level Refill and Check CAUTION: Always use lint-free shop towels. Never use any other type of shop towel. Replace the drain plug gasket and overflow plug o-ring with new ones when they are installed for the last time. Use caution when looking into the drain hole as there is a risk of dripping fluid entering the eye. After replacement, always perform CVT fluid leakage check. 1. Set up CONSULT-III plus (C-III plus) and the plus VI. 2. Turn the ignition ON. CAUTION: Do NOT start the engine at this time. 3. Select TRANSMISSION, and then Data Monitor. 4. Select FLUID TEMP, and then confirm CVT fluid temperature is 40°C (104°F) or less. 5. Make sure the selector lever is in the Park position and the parking brake is engaged. CVT pan 6. Raise the vehicle, and then remove the overflow plug (see Figure 1, # 1). Front of vehicle Figure 1 2/4 NTB15-038 7. Install the charging pipe into the overflow plug hole (see Figure 2, # 2). CAUTION: Tighten the charging pipe by hand. 8. Install the ATF changer hose with fill pump to the charging pipe (see Figure 2, # 3). CAUTION: Press the ATF changer hose all the way onto the charging pipe until it stops. NOTE: Charging pipe and ATF changer hose configuration may vary. 2 3 Figure 2 9. Fill approximately seven (7) liters (approximately 7.5 quarts) of Genuine Nissan NS-3 fluid (see PARTS INFORMATION). 10. Perform the following quickly: Remove the ATF changer hose and charging pipe, and then install the overflow plug. NOTE: Performing step 10 quickly will reduce or eliminate any fluid leakage. 11. Lower the vehicle, and then start the engine. 12. While depressing the brake pedal, shift the selector lever in all positions, and then shift back to Park. NOTE: Leave the selector lever in each position for five (5) seconds. 13. Let the engine idle, wait for the fluid temperature on C-III plus to reach 35°C (95°F) to 45°C (113°F). 14. Raise the vehicle, and then remove the overflow plug. CAUTION: Make sure the engine is still idling. 15. If fluid drains out, let drain to a slow drip. 16. Install the overflow plug with a new o-ring (see PARTS INFORMATION). 17. If no fluid drains out, reinstall the charging pipe and ATF changer hose, and then add 0.5 liter (0.5 quart) Genuine Nissan NS-3 fluid. 18. Remove the charging pipe and ATF changer hose, and then check for fluid draining out. 19. Repeat steps 17 and 18 until fluid drains out to a slow drip. Make sure the fluid temperature stays within the 35°C (95°F) to 45°C (113°F) range during this process. 20. Reinstall the overflow plug with new o-ring (see PARTS INFORMATION). 21. Inspect for leaks, and then test drive the vehicle for proper operation. 3/4 NTB15-038 PARTS INFORMATION* DESCRIPTION CONVERTER ASSYTORQUE SEAL- O RING (overflow plug) Genuine Nissan NS-3 Fluid MODEL PART NUMBER QUANTITY 2015 Altima and Rogue** 31100-28X0A 1 2015 NV200 31100-28X0C 1 ALL 31526-3VX0B 1 ALL 999MP-NS300P*** **** * Reference the applicable Electronic Service Manual for any one-time use parts as needed. ** 2WD and AWD models. *** Genuine Nissan NS-3 Fluid is available through the Nissan Maintenance Advantage program: Phone: 877-NIS-NMA1 (877-647-6621).
