Care point when removing and refitting floor over mats
Customer statement I workshop findings
How do I remove and refit the floor over mats fitted to the 12 MY onwards Continental range? Just
pulling on the mat will not release the fastener or mat
Technical background
A new method of retention has been employed for securing the customer removable floor over mats
Production change
Continental range of cars built from 12MY use this method for retaining the floor over mats
Measure
WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LIFT THE FLOOR OVER MATS CLEAR OF THE MAIN
CARPET WITHOUT RELEASING THE FOLLOWING FASTENERS
Industrial bezel fixings retain the floor over mats. This type of fastener incorporates a mechanical
clutch lock which has to be released before this fastener can be lifted clear of its fixed peg .
To release the bezel fixing and subsequently remove the over mat lift the fixing release button (B)
whilst maintaining the carpet position with a downward pressure (A) maintain the open relationship
between carpet (A) and release button (B) whilst lifting the carpet off the peg
Initial flt or refit position the mat over the fixed pegs, pull up on the top of each fastener and push the
floor mat down the fastener will lock onto its mating peg .
Note: do not press on the top of the fixing release button (B) when refitting as this will stop the clutch
opening and inhibit engagement
