INSTRUMENT C LUSTER ILLUMI NATION ADJUSTMENT
When diagnosing a customer concern relating to the inability to dim the instrument cluster in
day time driving conditions, inspect the center of the dash for the presence of the Auto Light
Sensor (Fig . 1). If the sensor is present, the vehicle is equipped with the Auto Headlamp
Feature and the cluster will only be dimmable during night time driving cond itions.
In order to verify this feature is operating correctly, turn the key to the 'ON ' position , turn the
head lamp switch to 'ON' or 'Auto', cover the Auto Light Sensor with a dark piece of cloth to
block out all light. Now that you are simulating night time driving conditions , dim the cluster
brightness using the dimmer switch ( Fig. 2).
On Base models without the Auto Lamp feature, the cluster brightness can be adjusted , at
anytime, using the dimmer switch (Fig. 2).
