REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE, (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TU l)

Dealers must perform this Service Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail
delivery.
When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty
Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.
Description: In some Elantra sedan vehicles the sunglass holder in the overhead console may open
unintentionally while driving over bumpy roads . This bulletin describes the procedure to replace the
sunglass holder latch to correct this condition.
Additionally, vehicles with a sunroof motor may lose sunroof home position during the replacement
part process. This bulletin describes the procedure to reset the sunroof motor (if equipped).
Applicable Vehicles: Certain 2015 Elantra sedan (MD - Korean built - VINs starting with KMHDH ***)
vehicles.

SUBJECT:
OVERHEAD CONSOLE SUNGLASS HOLDER LATCH REPLACEMENT (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TUI)
Service Procedure:
SUNGLASS HOLDER LATCH REPLACEMENT
1.
Open the sunglass holder (A).
2.
Remove the two screws (B) .
3.
Pull down the overhead console (C) to
separate it from the headliner.

Disconnect the connector (01 ).
NOTICE
Picture to the right shows a nonsunroof model.
Remove the overhead console (C) from the
vehicle.
4b.
For a sunroof-equipped model, also
disconnect the connector (02) .
NOTICE
A small flathead screwdriver may be
required to remove connector (02).
Remove the overhead console (C) from the
vehicle .
NOTICE
For sunroof-equipped models, a
sunroof reset procedure must be
performed. After latch replacement is
complete, refer to page 6 for sunroof
motor reset procedure.

The sunglass holder latch (E) is located at
the front left side of the overhead console.
NOTICE
There is no visible difference between
the old and the new part. Be careful to
not re-install the old part.
6.
Push the back side of the holder latch (E)
with a driver (F) to remove the holder latch
from the overhead console.
CAUTION
Set the console on a clean surface
that will not get damaged nor cause
damage to the console during removal
of the holder latch.

Insert the new holder latch (E *) with needle
nose pliers (G) in the orientation shown.
CAUTION
Before installation, compare the
orientation of the holder latch (E*) with
the picture on the right. The slotted
side should be facing away from your
view.
8.
Push in the new holder latch (E *) in the
direction of the arrow. You should hear and
feel a confirmation "click."
9.
Confirm the correct orientation of the holder
latch installation by comparing it to the
pictures to the right.
Close and open the sunglasses holder to
confirm that it operates normally.

10.
Reinstall the overhead console by reinstalling the parts in reverse order of removal.
11.
Confirmation:
a. Push the left and right light switches to make sure they light up and turn off.
b. Confirm the room lamp operates when door is opened/closed.

SUNROOF RESET (FOR SUNROOF-EQUIPPED VEHICLES ONLY)
1.
Start the sunroof reset procedure under the
following conditions:
Sunshade open
Sunroof glass closed
2.
Turn the ignition key (A) to the "ON " position .
Key start
Push-button start
For push-button start, press button (A)
2 times for "ON " without depressing the brake
pedal. (Do not start the engine .)
3.
Push and hold the sunroof glass switch (B)
forward in the direction of close for 1 O
seconds .

4.
Keep holding the switch until the sunroof
glass automatically tilts up and then moves
up/down slightly.
5.
After the sunroof glass moves in Step 4,
release the sunroof switch (B).
6.
Within 3 seconds of releasing the switch (B),
push and hold the switch (B) forward in the
direction of close again until the sunroof glass
moves as follows:
Tilt down -7 Slide open -7 Slide close

CAUTION
DO NOT release the control lever (B)
until the operation is completed.
If you release the control lever (8)
during the operation, you must restart
the sunroof resetting procedure.

Confirmation:
a. Push the sunroof glass switch (B) rearward
past the detent to open the glass completely .
b. Push the sunroof glass switch (B) forward
past the detent to close the glass completely.

CAtlTION
If the sunroof glass does not open or
close fully when pressing the switch
one time past the detent, repeat the
sunroof motor reset procedure.
