RX350
CONDITION
Some 2010-2013 RX350 vehicles may exh ibit an exhaust "rattle " type noise from one or both of the
two exhaust manifold heat shields pictured below:
Catalytic converter and exhaust
manifold heat sh ields
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Halt all diagnosis and repair. Open a Technical Assistance case (TAS) with all relevant details
and call for diagnostic support. Be sure to:
a. Record specific details from the customer on the operating conditions when the concern
occurred .
b. Record specific details about the characteristics of the noise, includ ing which heat sh ield
was the cause .
c. Perform a Techstream HealthCheck and record any stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes .
2. If the problem occurs outside of TAS operating hours, replace the affected exhaust manifold , do
NOT alter it in any way, and submit a Dealer Product Report for this issue. Include information
about which heat shield produced the noise, and a sound or video file if possible . Retain the
manifold for recovery.
