CONDITION
Some customers may experience a 'Check EV System' message
illuminating after attempting to charge their vehicle at a public charging
station. No other vehicle operation or performance issues are present.
This issue is currently under investigation . Charging station compatibility
is being studied as a potential cause for the Warning Message.
Toyota is investigating this issue but suspects that some charging
stations may not be compatible with the RAV EV.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Leviton Mfg. is the Toyota-approved supplier for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), also
known as, EV charging stations. Leviton's Level 2 (240V) 40A, 30A and 16A Toyota Program models
and EVR-green series have been extensively tested and approved for use with the Toyota RAV4 EV
and Prius Plug-in hybrid vehicle.
While there are numerous EVSEs offered in the market, only the Leviton models specified above have
been validated by Toyota directly. However, the following Level 2 charging stations* have completed
a basic level of confirmation with the Toyota RAV4 EV and should function properly:
Manufacturer
AeroVironment
Charge Point I Coulomb Technoloqies
Clipper Creek
Eaton
Schneider Electric
Models
Level 2 EVSE-RS
CT2000 Series
CS Series
Pow-R-Station (Commercial), EV Charging Station
(Residential)
EVlink Indoor Charging Station (EV2430WS)
*This list is sub1ect to change
Toyota wi ll continue to conduct basic testing on other manufacturers' Level 2 charging stations to
identify charging stations that are compatible with the RAV4 EV.
