ALL REVISIONS ARE HIGHLIGHTED WITH **ASTERISKS** AND INCLUDE ADDING POLICE VEHICLES TO THIS RRT. THIS SERVICE BULLETIN IS ALSO BEING RELEASED AS RAPID RESPONSE TRANSMITTAL (RRT) 13-080. ALL APPLICABLE SOLD AND UN-SOLD RRT VIN's HAVE BEEN LOADED. TO VERIFY THAT THIS RRT SERVICE ACTION IS APPLICABLE TO THE VEHICLE, USE VIP OR PERFORM A VIN SEARCH IN TECHCONNECT. ALL REPAIRS ARE REIMBURSABLE WITHIN THE PROVISIONS OF WARRANTY. SUBJECT: Decklid Opens Unintentionally OVERVIEW: This bulletin involves inspecting the decklid passive entry switch and replacing if necessary. MODELS: 2011 - 2013 LD Charger 2011 - 2013 LX 300 NOTE: **This bulletin applies to veh icles built on or after May 5, 2010 (MOH 0505XX) and on or before June 20, 2013 (MOH 0620XX) with Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (Sales Code LPA or LPN)**. SYMPTOM/CONDITION: The decklid opens unintentionally when the veh icle is in park and the customer is within proximity. DIAGNOSIS: If a customer's VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure. PARTS REQUIRED: 08-084-13 REV. A -2- Qty. Part No. Description 1 68087978AC Switch, Passive Entry I Decklid Passive Entry Switch REPAIR PROCEDURE: 1. Determine if the trunk passive entry switch button surface is plastic (slippery) or rubber (grippy) by rubbing a finger across the switch button surface to detect the surface material. Appearance is very similar and may require careful examination to detect which version of switch is installed (Fig. 1). a. Plastic (1) (Fig . 1) replace the switch , perform the repair procedure. b. Rubber (2) (Fig. 1) no further action is required, return the vehicle to the customer. Fig. 1 Passive Entry Switch Button Surface 1 - Plastic Button 2 - Rubber Button NOTE: On LX vehicles the passive entry switch may be replaced without removing the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) from the decklid. However all other procedure steps published in this bulletin and in TechCONNECT Service Info still apply to passive entry switch replacement. 2. 3. Remove the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) from the decklid. Refer to the detailed removal procedures available in DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT> under: Service Info> 08 - Electrical> 8L - Lamps and Lighting> Lamps/Lighting - Exterior> LAMP, Center High Mounted Stop> Removal. Inspect the CHMSL to decklid seal for any damage and/or deterioration. Replace if necessary to prevent water intrusion (Fig. 2). -3- 08-084-13 REV. A Fig. 2 CHMSL Seal 1 - CHMSL Seal 4. Remove the passive entry switch from the CHMSL housing. Refer to the detailed removal procedures available in DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT> under: Service Info> 08 - Electrical> 8N - Power Systems> Power Locks> SWITCH , Deck Lid Release> Removal (Fig. 3). A 5. -4- Replace previous version plastic button passive entry switch (1) with new version rubber button passive entry switch (2) (Fig. 4 ). Refer to the detailed installation procedures available in DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT> under: Service Info> 08 - Electrical> 8N - Power Systems> Power Locks> SWITCH , Deck Lid Release> Installation (Fig. 5). -5- 08-084-13 REV. Install the CHMSL to the decklid and tighten the CHMSL fasteners to 10 N·m (89 in. lbs.), refer to the detailed installation procedures available in DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT> under: Service Info> 08 - Electrical> BL - Lamps and Lighting> Lamps/Lighting - Exterior> LAMP, Center High Mounted Stop> Installation. POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
