THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES SERVICE BULLETIN 18-029-13, DATED July 16, 2013, WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR FILES. ALL REVISIONS ARE HIGHLIGHTED WITH **ASTERISKS**. HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS AVAILABLE BY SELECTING "HELP" THEN "HELP CONTENTS" AT THE TOP OF THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW. THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 13.04 OR HIGHER TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE. SUBJECT: Flash : MIL Illumination P0456- Evap System Small Leak. Includes Transmission Enhancements OVERVIEW: This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software. MODELS: 2013 (JS) 200 2013 (RT) Town & Country/Grand Caravan 2013 (JC) Journey NOTE: **This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 3.6L engine (sales code ERB) and applies to RT vehicles built on or before May 7, 2013 (MOH 0507XX), JS vehicles built on or before May 14, 2013 (MOH 0514XX) and JC vehicles built on or before May 13, 2013 (MOH 0513XX). This bulletin also applies to vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine (sales code ED3 or EOG) and applies to JC vehicles built on or before May 13, 2013 (MOH 0513XX) and JS vehicles built on or before May 14, 2013 (MOH 0514XX).** SYMPTOM/CONDITION: A small number of customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation the Techn ician may find that the following Diagnostic Trouble Code has been set: • P0456 - Evap System Small Leak -2- 18-029-13 REV. A Transmission Enhancements are also included with this software release . These changes include the following: • 5/6 Upshift timing adjusted to improve top speed performance (markets where speeds in excess of 100 mph(161 kph) are permitted) NOTE: The Transmission Enhancements only apply to vehicles equipped with the 3.6L engine (sales code ERB). DIAGNOSIS: Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTC's other than the one listed above are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin. If the customer describe the symptom/condition or if the technician finds the OTC, perform the Repair Procedure. REPAIR PROCEDURE: NOTE: Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process. NOTE: If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted. 1. 2. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT, Refer To Group 8 - Electrical> Electronic Control Modules - Service Information > Module - Powertrain Control > Standard Procedures > PCM/ECM Programming. After PCM reprogramming, the following must be performed:clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them. POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
