  Chrysler group, llc (chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 chrysler town and country and dodge grand caravan vehicles manufactured august 25, 2010, through october 31, 2013. The affected vehicles may experience overheating of the vent window switch in the driver's door armrest.
  chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the vent window switch with a newer version, free of charge. The owner notification letter was issued and the remedy campaign launched on on december 31, 2014. Owners may contact chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. • Recall 97221 [USA]: An air bag that does not deploy, or deploys improperly, may increase the risk of injury.
  Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2013 town & country and dodge grand caravan vehicles manufactured june 11, 2013, through june 12, 2013. The occupant restraint control module (orc) has incorrect software installed which may adversely affect air bag deployments in collisions. Thus, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 208, "occupant crash protection" and no. 214, "side impact protection."

  Issue: this recall is for aftermarket replacement rear window glass produced by vitro automotriz. Certain rear window glass may not have been properly tempered. If the window breaks, the glass may separate into large pieces instead of very small ones. Note: this is a voluntary recall that is not being conducted under the requirements of the motor vehicle safety act. Safety risk: glass that breaks in to large pieces could create a risk of injury. Corrective actions: the company will notify consumers by mail and instruct them to inspect the designation code marked on the rear window glass. Products affected by this recall have the designation “dot 287” along with the lettering “vmr” (replacement market) and a date code that is before july 2019.   On certain amerivan 10 wheelchair accessible vehicles built on dodge grand caravan and chrysler town and country platforms, the crimp fasteners used to retain fittings in the fuel line may not be fully crimped or compressed. This could result in a fuel leak. Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect fasteners and crimp the fasteners further to ensure they are fully compressed and seated.

• Totally integrated power module failure investigation # DP14004

  In a letter dated august 21, 2014, the center for auto safety (cas) petitioned the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) to initiate a defect investigation of alleged failures associated with the totally integrated power module (tipm) installed in chrysler suv’s, trucks, and vans beginning in the 2007 model year. The petitioner alleges that tipm defects may result in engine stall, airbag non-deployment, failure of fuel pump shutoff resulting in unintended acceleration, fire, and other symptoms. On september 25, 2014, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened dp14-004 to evaluate the petition for a grant or deny decision. Odi analyzed complaint data provided by cas as well as complaints submitted to odi from consumers. In total, there were 296 complaints submitted by the petitioner in the original petition and five supplements, including 271 complaints related to the subject vehicles equipped with tipm-7. Approximately 3 percent of cas complaints are related to vehicles equipped with tipm-6 and odi’s review of these complaints did not identify any safety defect trends. Odi conducted a detailed review of complaints narratives submitted by cas and consumers including careful analysis of vehicle repair histories, warranty claims obtained from the manufacturer and any available customer assistance inquiry reports (cair). Analysis of the field data indicated that my2011-2013 jeep grand cherokee and dodge durango vehicles exhibited significantly higher complaint rates related to fuel pump relay (fpr) failures than other subject vehicles. In a september 3, 2014 letter to nhtsa, chrysler submitted a defect information report (dir) identifying a defect in the fpr within the tipm-7 which can result in a no start or stall condition in approximately 188,723 model year (my) 2011 jeep grand cherokee (wk) and dodge durango (wd) vehicles manufactured from january 5, 2010 through july 20, 2011 (14v-530).In a february 24, 2015 letter, chrysler submitted a second dir expanding the scope of the fpr defect condition to include an additional 338,216 my 2012 through 2013 jeep grand cherokee vehicles manufactured from september 17, 2010 through august 19, 2013 and my 2012 through 2013 dodge durango vehicles manufactured from january 18, 2011 through august 19, 2013 (15v-115).Odi analysis of the cas allegations of tipm defects resulting in stall while driving, airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, fire and other faults identified a single defect condition related to 1 of over 60 different circuits in the tipm assembly. The most common effect of this defect condition, related to the fuel pump relay, was a no-start concern, but it could also result in stall while driving (76 complaints). No valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration or fire resulting from tipm faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components.Except insofar as the petitioners contentions relate to the defect condition addressed by the chrysler recalls, the factual bases of the petitioners contentions that any further investigation is necessary are unsupported. In our view, additional investigation is unlikely to result in a finding that a defect related to motor vehicle safety exists or a nhtsa order for the notification and remedy of a safety-related defect as alleged by the petitioner at the conclusion of the requested investigation. Therefore, in view of the need to allocate and prioritize nhtsas limited resources to best accomplish the agencys safety mission, the petition is denied. This action does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist. The agency will take further action if warranted by future circumstances. My 18 year old son was driving my 14 year old daughter on i97 in maryland when the passenger seat active head restraints headrest deployed startling both of my kids. No injuries or accidents but pretty scary at 65 mph

On occasion at least four different times in the past two months, my vehicle has completely shut off while i am driving it. In an instant, a warning comes on my dash that has a lightening bolt, the engine and all electrical/power shuts off, the wheel locks, and i am only able to brake. I have taken it to the dealership where they charged me $100 to find what the issue was, even though unsuccessful. They said because the vehicle showed no codes, they didn’t know the reason for the malfunction, and sent me home. I called chrysler recall and they said because there are no open recalls, they are unable to help me. When searching online, i see a lot of people have had this exact same issue but no one helps them fix it. Lawsuits have emerged. Accidents have happened. I have three small children who rely on me and my vehicle. It is completely unsafe for us to drive and for others around us on the road. No one will help diagnose or fix the problem. I need help fast! Please help me.

On multiple occasions while driving, the vehicle has simply powered itself off without warning. In addition to the engine cutting off, all interior features and lights also lose power. To restart the vehicle, you must remove the key from the ignition, put the car in park, and then put the key back in with your foot on the brake. This is incredibly dangerous. Diagnostic error codes do not capture the cause of the issue.

The contact owns a 2013 chrysler town & country. The contact stated while driving at 70 mph, the contact noticed that all of the oil had leaked out of the vehicle. The contact stated the oil warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the oil cooler needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 132,157.

Then driving 26mph one day it did this and the whole engine shut off with the keys in the ignition while driving. I lost all power, power steering, and brakes! Battery was replaced and the issues kept getting worse.

Purchased 2013 chrysler town and country in july of 2020 and it had a clean record, was a former carmax vehicle and my independent mechanic reviewed the vehicle and deemed it a good purchase. I have since cared for the vehicle and it has run well until recently several error codes came up. P0300, P0456, P0455, P0175. I took it to my mechanic and they said this could be a vehicle manufacturer issue. The codes say something about evp leak, misfire and system running too rich. This should be investigated to ensure a recall isn't necessary. Repairs are well over $1000 and not due to any pre existing issues.

The front seat passenger side headrest spontaneously busted open abs cannot be put back because the rings that hold it in place broke. We were not in motion. Someone sat in the seat snd it happened without cause.
