File in Section: Service Bulletin Bulletin No.: Date: PIC5921 October, 2013 PRELIMINARY INFORMATION Subject: Unable To Charge Check Engine Lamp with DTC P16C1 Or P16C2 Models: 2011-2014 Chevrolet Volt 2014 Cadillac ELR 2014 Opel Ampera 2014 Chevrolet Spark The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern Some customers may state that they are unable to charge the hybrid battery and the check engine lamp is illuminated on the IPC. After inspection, you may notice that the vehicle has a current or history code P16C1 or P16C2 set in the Battery Charging Control Module (BCCM) These codes are usually set as a result of an incomplete BCCM programming event. Recommendation/Instructions If you experience this concern, Please update the OBCM with the latest software in TIS-2-Web. If you experience a concern while programming the BCCM, please contact Techline support @ 1-800-828-6860. Warranty Information For vehicles repaired under warranty use: Labor Operation Description Labor Time 2810285 Battery Charger Control Module Reprogramming with SPS Use Published Labor Operation Time Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
