SAFETY RECALL NOTICE
Master Cylinders
for use with Bosch Hydro-Max® boosters
NHTSA Campaign Number 13E011000
Product: Certain master cylinders used with Bosch Hydro-Max® boosters. These products
were intended for aftermarket installation on various medium truck applications with GVW up
to 33,000 lbs. These master cylinders were manufactured July 1, 2011 through April 12, 2012.
Defect: These master cylinders have a condition where the brake fluid level indicator may not
properly detect a low brake fluid situation if the fluid level indicator switch moves outward in the
assembly.
Hazard: If the low brake fluid level is caused by an external leak, resulting in the escape of
fluid from the brake system, it can result in increased pedal travel. If this condition is not
addressed, it can result in a reduction of available braking force, which could increase the
required stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash.
What to do: If you purchased one of these suspect master cylinders for your GM vehicle,
please contact your GM dealer. Your dealer will perform an inspection of the manufacturing
date of the master cylinder. If the manufacturing date is between July 1, 2011, and April 12,
2012, the FLI switch will be replaced.
