Subject:
Noise from Transfer Case While in Four Wheel Drive
Models:
2011-2013 Chevrolet Silverado
2011-2013 GMC Sierra Models
Equipped with Manual Shift Transfer Case (RPO NQG)
Condition/Concern
Some customers may comment on excessive noise coming from the transfer case.
This condition may be caused by noise from the transfer case being transmitted through the transfer case shift rod
into the vehicle interior.
Recommendation/Instructions
To diagnose this concern, shift the transfer case into four wheel drive and disconnect the transfer case shift linkage.
If the noise is reduced, replace the transfer case shift rod.
