GROUP NUMBER CAMPAIGN DATE Technical Service Bulletin 15-01-032 MODEL(S) SEPTEMBER 2015 2015 SONATA (LF) SRS B1620 DIAGNOSTIC LOGIC UPDATE (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TX8) SUBJECT: IMPORTANT *** Dealer Stock and Retail Vehicles *** Dealers must perform this Service Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair. When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns. During this time, the Airbag Control Unit (ACU) conducts self-diagnosis. On certain vehicles, if the ACU senses sufficient vibration during the diagnostic period (from a vehicle door being slammed, for example), the SRSCM may erroneously detect a fault and illuminate the airbag warning light accompanied by DTC B1620 (internal fault). This bulletin describes the service procedure to reprogram the ACU using GDS to update the B1620 diagnostic logic to the most recent revision. NOTE: This condition does not pose a safety risk and has no effect on the ability of the ACU to properly detect a collision and deploy the airbags/seat belt pretensioners if necessary. NOTICE You must initially perform GDS ACU Update in Auto Mode. If the ACU Update starts but then fails in Auto Mode, perform the update in Manual Mode to recover. Refer to the General Instructions found in TSB: 15-GI-001 (GDS Mobile) and 15-GI-002 (PC GDS). GDS Information: Event # 339 Description LFA ACU UPGRADE NOTE: Refer to the TSB 15-GI-001 for the tablet-based Mobile GDS ECU update procedures. Refer to the TSB 15-GI-002 for the PC-based GDS ECU update procedures. Select “AIRBAG (Event #1)” or “AIRBAG (Event #2)” as the system to reprogram.
