During this time, the Airbag Control Unit
(ACU) conducts self-diagnosis. On certain vehicles, if the ACU senses sufficient vibration during the
diagnostic period (from a vehicle door being slammed, for example), the SRSCM may erroneously
detect a fault and illuminate the airbag warning light accompanied by DTC B1620 (internal fault). This
bulletin describes the service procedure to reprogram the ACU using GDS to update the B1620
diagnostic logic to the most recent revision.
NOTE: This condition does not pose a safety risk and has no effect on the ability of the ACU to properly
detect a collision and deploy the airbags/seat belt pretensioners if necessary.
