GROUP NUMBER CAMPAIGN Technical Service Bulletin SUBJECT: DATE APRIL 2016 16-01-019 MODEL(S) TUCSON (TL) BATTERY TERMINAL AND MOUNTING BRACKET INSPECTION (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TCC) IMPORTANT *** Dealer Stock and Retail Vehicles *** Dealers must perform this Service Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair. When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns. Description: During recent rework at a port facility, the battery terminals and battery mounting bracket bolts might not have been secured properly. This bulletin provides the procedure to verify the battery terminal and battery mounting bracket torque. Applicable Vehicles: Certain 2016 TUCSON (TL) vehicles. Warranty Information: Op. Code TLBATTR0 Operation Battery Terminal and Bracket Inspection and Tightening Op. Time 0.3 M/H NOTE 1: Submit Claim on Campaign Claim Entry Screen. NOTE 2: If a part is found in need of replacement while performing Service Campaign TCC and the affected part is still under warranty, submit a separate warranty claim using the same Repair Order. Circulate To: General Manager, Service Manager, Parts Manager, Warranty Manager, Service Advisors, Technicians, Body Shop Manager, Fleet Repair SUBJECT: BATTERY TERMINAL AND MOUNTING BRACKET INSPECTION (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TCC) Service Procedure: 1. Open the hood. 2. Verify both battery terminal clamps (A) and (B) are fully seated and securely fastened. Use a 10 mm socket or wrench to verify the clamp torque on each terminal. Tightening torque: Battery ( - ) terminal: 3.0 ~ 4.4 lb-ft (4.0 ~ 6.0 Nm) Battery ( + ) terminal: 5.8 ~ 7.2 lb-ft (7.8 ~ 9.8 Nm) B A Inspect that the battery is firmly seated in the battery tray. Inspect mounting bracket is installed properly. C Verify the battery mounting bracket bolt (C) is properly tightened by using an appropriate 10 mm socket.
